Hahaha. We had a 10 minute conversation, and read various Reddit pages trying to figure out the appropriate flag would be, without pissing too many people off. Most people said, "there is no official flag". We heard the Ulster flag is no longer used. We weren't really sure if we should us the Union Jack, or the Irish flag. If people have a strong opinion on us changing it, we totally will!

Hi guy's i was born in the south of Ireland about 100 metres from the the cliff edge in a stone cottage which was so cold in the winter and we had a huge open fire and we would huddle around the fite and often cook toast, I as i said that i was born there and moved to the UK when i was 12 and what you had to eat was commercial food for the tourist, when we moved to the UK my dad god bless him would buy a pint of milk in a glass bottle and leave out of the fridge to go off and he made the best ever soda bread ever and i still cook it myself today, take care and god bless to you both 🙏🙏

i just watched, and american family, go to what is trying to be a british pub in america, they got fish and chips i think, a sunday roast, i think they got english breakfast, i cant remeber the 4th dish, each dish was around 30 dollars, thats cost them over 120 dollars without a drink, but i get why the price is so high, because they had lamb for sunday roast, its not easy meat to get in US, everything else was traditional, down to baked beans and stuff, so the import duties must be high, The food did look good, and they were english people even down to the server, so they know what they are doing, but you cant replicate the english pub, the pub culture, what it means, the community of it, after work pint, whether yu in builders shorts, or you suit from the office, it makes no difference, or whether your a millionaire or someone living pay day to pay, everyone is equal, and welcome

I have a big question, you will have been in pubs, and you have done weatherspoons, your sitting relaxing, in a pub 4pm, talking to each other, trying food, is weatherspoons great yes, is the beer cheap and goos yes, can you get drunk on a few pounds, can you have a good night and a meal and a couple of drinks each for 20 pounds yes, is the food take away standard yes, but its affordable to low income families, who might have children, not alot of money, but want to go out and have a treat, even takes the kids, kids menu, colour books and crayons, no where in the world does pub culture like the british, many places have tried, and failed,

That's definitely what's great about Spoons - it essentially allows anyone to afford to eat out, once in a while, without breaking the bank. We are often on a strict budget when we travel, so a place like Wetherspooon's is more than welcome. We would definitely return!

Hi guys, again lol, watching your videos's again, binge watched the rest of your uk stuff, The hash brown thing, yeah its a breakfast item, alot depends on what your paying, making it filling for low price, Im going back to the 90's, when i used to travel from north england to London to work, We used to travel home on the A1 motorway dual carriage way from london, it took us all the way home, There was a porto cabin on the A1, truckers places really, but good for anyone, They used to have breakfast, from small to regular, then getting bigger, with chips, These were all name by roads, the A1 being the small the M1 being the next biggest, then the M4 and so on till you got to the M25, im not sure if the order is right, the bigger, the more additions you go, i have full english at home with my wife twice a week, we have hash browns, better than few chips on the side

The word is derived from the Proto-Germanic *bakkon, meaning "back meat". Meat from other animals, such as beef, lamb, chicken, goat, or turkey, may also be cut, cured, or otherwise prepared to resemble bacon, and may even be referred to as, for example, "turkey bacon". so yes canadian bacon and english bacon is the real bacon. we use back meat as opposed to belly which Americans use.

to be honest as a hungarian a never seen that type of Chicken Paprikas before, its kinda strange. Also the price of that Lángos... Man as a hungarian i am ashamed, its overpriced as hell sadly. Btw in Hungary if you wanna taste the best versions of traditional hungarian food, sadly you have to get invited to a family dinner. Cuz our mommas and grandmas are the best. What you can eat in the restaurants they are usually the mainstream version. Every single fatty dish on a family dinner is even more fattier and spicy. We love it:D
@wherearewe-yt
@wherearewe-yt 3 күн бұрын
We didn't even realize it was a different variation until after the fact, because we had literally never seen it on a menu previously. Regular chicken paprikas is much better. Budapest is getting quite pricy now, so the price we paid for langos is pretty common now. There are spots like Retro Langos that charge 2200Ft for the same thing. As I think we mentioned, the cheapest we ever paid was in our local market, and that was about 1000Ft. Would have been fun to have a Hungarian grandmother cook for us! Unfortunately, we're no longer in Budapest. Maybe one day though. I can imagine the would would be amazing.

Everyone hates on wetherspoons.. but it's not ment to be fine dining. It's cheap food. Cheaply prepared and served cheaply. Some things are done well. Some are awful. Ultimately it's a cheap place to have a few drinks, with the possibility to soak some of it up with some reasonably priced food. If you want better tasting better quality food.. then go elsewhere.

@wherearewe-yt for people on a budget like you say it's pretty good!, they do themed days or at least they used to. So that day the items are even cheaper. Fish Friday for example. One thing I can say from working for them before.. as long as the pub has decent management. The bars and kitchens are spotless. But I can imagine there are numerous questionable ones

Oh god the dreaded Bendy at Wimpy lol....I will go to my grave remembering in the late 90s when I was in secondary school walking past our 1 remaining wimpy and seeing the great poster that stated "Come in and enjoy the bendylicious pork bendy bender meal" baring in mind to 15 year old me the only time I had heard the term "bender" was as a homophobic slur.....It certainly did its job and made me look again at the poster...basically thinking "Surely they are not allowed to say that". As a Brit I like seeing people from other countries come here and try our food and actually enjoy it!. I still get a little annoyed that in every comment section there is always a "ConK-Ered the world for spices then don't use em, BriT-ISH food is garbaarge" style comment when they couldn't be further from the truth in reality. A lot of what is classic British food is warming comfort food designed to keep you full and happy in colder winter months, which I think it does very well but they tend towards using local herbs as seasonings rather than expensive spices. Also need to mention the fact that many British favourites are passed down from Grandmothers or Mothers who lived during rationing in both World Wars where there wasn't a massive spice trade because getting other things was more important than wasting room on a cargo ship for boxes of Cumin, Ginger and Paprika. You also tend to find when going back in history the highly spiced food in Britain was reserverd for the rich, EG look at any Tudor period food and the peasentry had stews or plain meat and veg usually flavoured with herbs where as the Royal Court ate full on meals where everything had Nutmeg and Mace in it.
@wherearewe-yt

There's definitely the stereotype that British food is bland, and flavourless, but we've had plenty of great food all around the UK. A lot of food I grew up with in Canada is similar, so a lot of it feels nostalgic to me as well. The majority of my grandfathers siblings, and both of his parents, were UK born. I suppose the recipes he passed down was a reflection of that! Baked beans, salt/corned beef...we even grew up eating Terry's chocolate oranges for Christmas. Hahaha. So many things I didn't know were British, until we spent so much time in the UK.

I have a love hate relationship with Weatherspoons, you can't deny that they are value for money as drinks and food are cheap in comparison to other restaurants, cafes and pubs. But they are also a big par of why the old style British pubs are closing. Spoons are cheap because they can afford to buy in bulk which is why the menus are almost identical whereever you go in the UK(with the exception of the odd regional difference), your local pub cannot do that and in most cases are forced to buy their beer, larger and ale from the brewery who owns the building at massively inflated prices when the brewery then sells the same beer to places like spoons at half the cost. I've seen that happen to a pub near me, where the landlord explained his costings just purely to the few of us that were in the pub because he was greatful we were there. He explained that the brewery would charge him say £200 a keg which you get around 88 pints out of(maybe less for foam up if the lines aren't perfect). So if you got the full 88 pints you would need to sell at £2.27 per pint just to break even on the keg alone, not including the overheads of the pub(power, staff,rent and heating etc) So you are already over what spoons are charging before you factor in the rest of your overheads and then a profit margin so you can actually make money that is why in the standard local you can see pints at £6.50 per. That is the main part of the hate side of my relationsip with Wetherspoons(other than ther owner who is a colossal berk) but I won't ever say they should all be closed or anything like that because they do help people go out and have a good time on a budget. The brewaries are the bigger villains by selling cheap to big old conglomerate Weatherspoons while gaining maximum profit from the landlords who don't have a choice but to get the kegs from them.
@wherearewe-yt
@wherearewe-yt 2 сағат бұрын
There is a pretty big divide between those who love, and those who hate Wetherspoons. The reasons are those you already mentioned. People love it because it's affordable, and allows people of all social classes the luxury of being able to enjoy a night out for food and drinks. Those who dislike it, hate the owner, and blame Wetherspoon's for putting other, more local spots out of business. We typically like to visit more local spots. They often have a lot more personality, and better food. Most of our videos feature places like that. But every once and a while, we like to check out these big chains, and see what all the fuss is about. These types of videos also do a lot better, at Wetherspoon's is known all throughout the UK, while a local bar may only be known by a select number of people from any given city. For us, it's all about balance!
