My hubby & I landed in Paducah for a 1 week stay before heading towards Louisville in june of 2022 (did not leave!) We fell in love with Paducah and KY - so after 12 years of RV traveling, we settled down in Paducah!❤ The charm of the town & the friendly folks made our decision easy (also the cost of living & we could afford a house with land here❤) We stayed at Fern Lake RV campground (couldn't get into Duck Creek - which is not too far from where we ended up living!) - nice folks & they allowed us to extend our stay till we found a home! FYI - Paducah has a paducky derby every fall (little rubber ducks) that helps raise $ for local charities. Y'all came in November (fall colors are great) but in the spring we have the beautiful dogwoods blooming all over town - even has trolley tours to see the dogwood trail thru old parts of town! Also if you love beer - head out to Dry Grounds brewery! The best beers & super friendly staff - it was the cap that said we found our permanent home! There is also other breweries with in 1 hr drive in Illinois & surounding areas in KY.

Great video. I am born and raised Paducah, left a few times but always came back. Much of Stuart Nelson park will be made part of a new sports park but all amenities such as the disc golf and dog park will either remain at SNP or moved to Noble Park (both of which are connected to our greenway trail which goes on and connects to the county’s trail system. As of Feb 2021, White Haven looks a little different. They are doing maintenance and have stripped the paint so the original red brick is exposed but it will be repainted soon. If you’re back through check out our museums. Of course the American Quilt Society Museum is the big one but down by the river and Kirchhoff’s there’s the River Discovery Center (my favorite), The Market House Museum and the Yeiser Art Center (different parts of the same building and was the building behind you when you filmed Kirchoff’s) the railroad museum and the Hotel Metropolitan. If your here in June or July, check out the Paducah Chiefs, a college summer wooden bat league team that plays in historic Brooks Stadium. Great job and safe travels!

Mine and Felicia’s tip is just to skip the stress and do all your grocery shopping BEFORE you hookup and head-out. Too much of a risk/hassle to drag your hauler/camper through parking lots. We used to stop along the way and get ice or food and it was always a hassle to find parking or get safely through the parking lots safely. Now we stock up before the trip! If we forget something, we wait to get to camp, unhook and go get it then.

Great video! I live about 20 minutes west of Paducah, KY. When Ballard county people say I’m going to town, they mean they’re going to Paducah. It’s nice to see someone make a video about Paducah. My family has a lot of history there. My mom owned a restaurant on south 6th street years ago. It was Carter City Castle when my mom just worked there. Then she named it Becky’s City Castle when she bought it. My dad and us kids ran a dairy farm in Ballard County. We’d go visit her on weekends. My brother, sister, and I would walk downtown to see a movie at one of the old movie theaters on broadway just about every weekend. I was the youngest, about 11 or 12. My sister was one year older than me. My brother was one year older than her. That was in the early 70’s, back when kids could walk down the street without the worry of being kidnapped.

Paducah, Kentucky is on the list. LOL! The fall colors are amazing. The city looks like a fun place to explore with its old building and history. HappilyEverHenry! What a cute idea for a campground to do for its guest! RV Tip of the Week: If your camper has a stove vs a convection oven, and you want to use it, but the bottom of your food gets done quicker than the top, measure your oven, and purchase a rectangular baking stone. This will keep the item baking more evenly.

Whoa, that mantle rock looked cool. Never heard of it, but after traveling through I now know that Kentucky is full of places and things I've never heard of before. Like "Paint Lick" Road. Yes, that's an actual road name. The only one in America, per Google.

Great video! You really made us want to go and check out Paducah! Our tip is to use a HOTLOGIC Mini when you need to heat up leftovers on the road. It's very convenient and it won't overcook your food like a microwave tends to do. Safe travels!

If you’re ever back that way consider Garden of the Gods in southern Illinois in the Shawnee national forest. It’s about 30 minutes north of Paducah. It has great views and amazing bouldering on sandstone cliffs and crevasses.

You went to mantle rock! I grew up in that county. I have been there many times. My dad actually was born and grew up just a few miles from there. And yes it is never really crowded but fall is the best time to go no copperheads to worry about like in the spring and summer.
@HappilyEverHanks3 жыл бұрын
Chad!! So great to hear from you!! That's amazing that you have been to Mantle Rock as well, what a beautiful area for you to live your childhood in 😃I would imagine those copperheads would be no fun to run into 😟 So was it in Paducah that you lived or actually a different town near mantle rock? Are you still in the Kentucky area?
@chadm6981 Жыл бұрын
I grew up in Ledbetter which is right across the Tennessee river from Paducah. Mantle rock is in the upper part of the county, I grew up in the southern part. I haven’t lived it Kentucky for about 28 years. I did 20 years military and retired to northwest Florida. So if you ever get to Navarre, Fl let us know.
