No one homages like Christopher Ward, and this CW C65 Sandhurst just makes me soooo dang HAPPY! I absolutely love this watch, and it is just such a little treasure! Some things I forgot to say in this video: the price is £995. How CW gives us these watches under £1,000 I do not know. But man, they are just killing it!
Here are all of my thoughts on this watch!

I love the look of this watch it’s much more interesting than any normal military styled field watch, especially a boring looking generic CWC……… The bronze case material takes it to another level, the hands look great and the 38mm is great size. Well done Christopher Ward in making a good looking alternative to a normal boring field watch. I like the watch so much I will probably end up buying it soon.

I can afford to buy any watch I choose to unfortunately not everyone can afford an original version of an expensive watch. Then there are some, like me, who refuse to pay the ridiculous markups that some sellers want. This is where IMO homages come in. A person can enjoy the look they want and not break the bank. There are places I travel to where you can get robbed of your expensive Rolex etc so I’ll wear my homage. If it gets stolen I’m not out that much cash so no big deal.

A few weeks ago, I just purchased the C60 Sapphire Orange watch: Reference #: C60-40ADA3-S00O0-TO The dial is so beautiful, and the semi-transparent orange tined background of the dial, where you can see the entire date wheel, is so unique. The fact that it has 600 meters of water resistance, while maintaining a relatively slender case height, just adds to its appeal. Other watch makers, which charge thousands of dollars more to get anywhere near the specs and aesthetic quality of Christopher Ward should be nervous. They can only coast on their laurels, prestige, and heritage for so long, before they are usurped by innovative brands like Christopher Ward, who really provide great value for money.

Feel better soon, Britt! As to the CW, here's the thing: I know it's meant to be an "homage" to the Smiths. I see how it is but when I look at the watch, I think "that's a vintage inspired field watch" and not "that's a ripoff of the Smiths". Where do we draw the line between a watch being inspired by a vintage piece (or category of pieces) and something that's clearly a ripoff? It's probably one of those "I know it when I see it" situations. This is not super coherent and I apologize! 🤣

This is a true homage. I am not sold on bronze for a field watch though. I think bronze's natural home is on dive watches. the hands are OK but feel a bit too "dive watchy". Still a nice piece though. This video works well without your face no offence, but we just get to see more of the watch.

The only bronze watch I ever wanted was that Oris 65 with the turquoise dial, a mates got it and its awesome, also the patina develops very very slowly. The big difference between this CW homage and other homage watches is that the watch this is based on, the Smith watches, are no longer made. So you can't buy this design any more except as an homage watch, unlike all those Rolex homages. Also just because a company comes out with a design, doesn't mean you can't come out with a similar look without being called an "homage." Are all panda-dial chronographs homages of Rolex Daytonas (even though they didn't invent that look)? I don't think so.

I like it. I like the colour, I like the ‘No date’. I would stick it on a proper NATO with bronze buckle and finally, the buckle issue is what I get on every watch and it drags the watch over the top. I have had a couple of custom straps with the buckle side extended by 10mm and it works. On a proper NATO you can slide the watch along to make the buckle sit correct. But hey, Ham-fisted Geordie problems. Great video, we love you Brittster. X

Because CW does not have a dealer network they can price their watches aggressively compared to manufacturers using ADs, direct-to-consumer saves cost. The Formex Essence 39, a watch that also sports a Sellita SW-200 COSC movement, goes for about $1400 on a strap.

CW is killing it lately 🤩 It will be very interesting to see how the patina develops on the full bronze bracelet 😮 Also on the subject of homages…….I totally support them, not all people have the economic power to buy the real deal, so a homage its the way to go rather than a fake. Also some chinese brands are doing pretty cool things and offering a lot of bang for the buck. That will be an interesting subject for a video dont you think Britt…….homages and chinese watches 🧐.

I mean, associating with Christopher Ward and Invicta/Pagani is a bit much. True design innovation is a very rare thing indeed - the watch industry notwithstanding. As much as this watch might be a clear homage, it is a term that can be used dispassionately or as censure. Their other watches take design cues from other brands, as those brand did from the brands before them. I like Christopher Ward and what they've been doing recently. I don't like the idea of associating them with 'homage' brands Love the vids. Make more pleaseee 🤓

This is a beautiful watch. I am not sold on bronze yet (mostly due to the future patina), this looks really good. Overall, CW did a great job with this line, and the stainless would be my choice. The previous version of this line just didn't speak to me. COSC is just the chef's kiss on it too. I am so glad they've gone away from the name on the dial and just use that logo. Their dials are much more pleasing with that look, though there are a few slightly older models that do well with the name on the dial (i.e. C65 Wild Thing). I hope you heal up soon, Britt!

I have the Series 1 of the C65 Sandhurst and I both LOVE and HATE the Series 2. I LOVE the Bronze case and the CW Logo on the dial. I HATE the pointer hour hand (should have kept the short stick hand) and the new font on the numerals. The new font is too BOLD and too white. The old numerals were subtle and perfect for a field watch. Great Review!

Not impressed with the watch as an ideal field watch: a bronze case looks cool, but it's not the optimal case material for a field watch. I'm not impressed with the Army for licencing the name, though I can't fault Christopher Ward for getting in on the action. It seems to be a nice enough piece, and I suppose some proud parents will buy them for their newly commissioned subalterns (who will keep them in a drawer while they wear G-shocks in the field). Good enough, perhaps; perfect, nope.

I'm not a wordsmith. Numbers are my thing. That's probably why I am struggling to come come with a adequate description of how awful this watch and strap combination is. This watch deserves to have a vintage leather strap and the strap deserves to be on a CWC. I hope before long some kind soul will come along and rescue this tragic partnership.
