What I love about this is that it's backed by Costco. And Costco honestly has probably the best backing of any company out there. Incredibly loyal to its customers and will honor a refund if you dislike the tool in any way. Costco has a 100% satisfaction guarantee and honestly it's why I'm sold on this. I like that it seems to be more ergonomic than the Sidekick and it removed the tool, the saw, that I honestly didn't care for, so it's in a way a perfect minimalist setup. //This also explains why the tool isn't marketed as much as it's a Costco 'thing' that they don't pump out marketing on exclusive things they have.

I have to say that for a lot of people, that full size tool is too big and too heavy for a first multitool. If I hand someone my SOG powerpint and my Leatherman wave, or my Leatherman free p2, almost every one of them picks the powerpint as something they would actually carry every day.

A powerpint will break down a decade before the Bolster imo. I trust this warranty and product way way more than sog.

@@maxlvledc that's probably true, but if you actually use your tool enough to warrant that rate of replacement, then you're probably picky about the tools in it and such to want something more expensive/specific than the bolster. And if you don't use one often, then the lighter weight and smaller form factor of the powerpint will mean that you're more likely to carry it, and as you find uses for it, you may want to graduate to something nicer and bigger.

My first Leatherman was a classic Leatherman. I don't remember where or how I got it, but I used it in high school on our school farm. Yes, it came to school with me, but it didn't come out of my backpack anywhere except the farm. I used the blade to cut open hay bales and to cut up apples for the steer I was raising. I was really upset when I lost it.

I recently bought a bolster and a wave+ for $80 at a local pawn shop, the only issue was I had to order replacement eyeglass screwdriver for $5. Two days ago I got a victorinox hunter, Gerber suspension, and a victorinox that has a 256 MB thumb drive built in. Looks like a classic alox but with the drive added $130 for the 3, I like pawn shops.

Was surprised when it turned out to be called a 'Bolster' because my first thought was 'Oh, a video about the Sidekick, my first multi tool!' (Which I bought at a discount for under 50, so I've ticked both boxes👍)

It was the PS Style for me. Then I picked up the Wingman, Sidekick, Skeletool CX and finally the Wave. Till this day the one that gets used the most almost on a daily basis is my Leatherman Style PS. 😂 The others just sit on my desk.

I bought seven Leatherman sidekicks when I found them on sale for $25 home Depot about a decade ago. I gave away 4 as Christmas presents, and I kept three in case I broke stuff off of them. I really wanted to change out the saw for another blade, and that's when I found out Leatherman no longer allows you to purchase the individual inserts. Kind of pisses me off

I can't be sure, but i think i got the Blast with a sheath and a bit kit from Costco many years ago. It's still my main multitool. I want the arc, but i can't really justify it, because the blast does everything i need it to. Plus i edc knives with super steels - but i still kinda want an arc... ;)

The primary reason I buy the most expensive tools is that I might not leave it on a tree stump or a rock. Drove 1-1/2 hours back to a hotel to retrieve a #300 Benchmade and it was still there just under the foot of the bed!

I got one for Christmas, and one of the first times I tried to use the pliers, the blade came out from my thumb rubbing on it, and sliced my pinky. I have struggled to want to use it much since. If I flip it over so the blade is one the part of the handles in my fingers instead of my thumb this is much less of a risk, but I still think that's the biggest hit against the bolster

The hook broke, clip broke, knife came loose, one's a month i have to tight everything back up, and the grip on the pliers is too wide at least for me, I had letterman's before and never had a mayor issues

@@maxlvledc how would you compare it too a gerber suspension nxt for best budget lightweight option? They are both sprung, within $5 of each other in price and .02 Oz of each other in weight. Im not a gerber fan at all, but If the NXT didn't have such weird ergonomics that made it hurt to bear down on the pliers I would love them for a quick out the door light carry

I received the Bolster and the Juice yesterday. I like the Bolster a lot but the jury is out on the Juice. Not sure if the Bolster is as well built as my Wave+ either. Haven't had much time to spend on either but I recommend getting the Bolster if you can still get it at the discounted price.
