I built my 3 rotor fb rx7 back in 2004. I still have it. I’m just in the middle upgrading it. I think I was the first in Australia to put one in a fb. I know I’m the first person to fit a 20b in to a ford v6 GT capri. It was to dangerous to drive in so I sold the car and got the old rx7. I race it in street sprints, hill climb’s time attacks top gear series. I have have to over 330 klms on many occasions. It was making a 1000 rear wheel hp. Now with all the upgrades it should be closer to 2000 hp then a 1000. But that’s not what I’m trying to do. I want power from idle to 10,000 rpm. Where before It had a shit power band from 3500 to 8500 then it ran out of turbo. So I’m looking forward to racing it once it’s finished. Cain hard guys.

Been watching Australia for a while, u guys go nuts… the burnout cars and the stupid amount of older Rotary cars (rx3) over there 😂 The Utes and wagons like the hsv bruh…. States don’t get none of that, let alone one that’s built for burnouts lmfao

My cousin has a pretty stout 13B FD. To mitigate damage from insanely long flames, he had a stock appearing rear bumper made from aluminum and then had it ceramic coated to match the paint. Complete with an enamel gloss finish to match the clear coat of the paint so it has an almost identical refractive index as the bodywork and paint itself. Its been about 5 years since that was done and you can just barely begin to see a difference in color tone in one small area above the tip of the exhaust outlet. Its not burned whatsoever only the enamel gloss is showing any signs of extreme heat from the massive fireballs. It will never " burn through" and really would never need totally replacing. Only to have the rear removed and re enameled. He's somewhat of a pyromaniac and the fireballs ARE the reason for the car itself. Also his father, my Uncle, owns and operates a British WW2 Spitfire fighter aircraft, with a Rolls Royce Merlin V12 engine. Which when it comes to fireballs, it tells the FD to get wrecked! Flew recently at the wings over Houston airshow among many others. Unfortunately he is planning on selling it to a restoration outfit that flies in the Reno NV air races. What a bummer dude. Being allowed in the hanger when its being worked on and spectators are gushing in their pants over it, damn y'all, its like your Dad picking you up from High School in a Koenigsegg or something like that. So so so badass and ill miss it. I heard a rumor from my Aunt that he's planning on buying a MIG 17 next which is a 2 seater Russian fighter jet. Very old and it was really the first modern fighter jet, and the very first to employ an afterburner and ejection seats. Well have to see. Until then a ride in the FD more than suffices.

Nice but with that huge turbo it only has about 2000 rpm of powerband. Only making good power between 6,500-8500 rpm. If your planning on pump gas only. Better to match the turbo size for desired power maybe a gtx3576r would be much better and still support 700hp. Why stick a 1000hp turbo on it when you only plan to ever make 500hp. You only create tons of lag. And a very narrow powerband. Id rather have a gt3076r making 500hp with minimal lag and lots of fast response torque.

FB RX-7 was my first "cool" car ('85 GSL-SE). I did some stupid crazy impossible stuff in that car as a 17-19 year old and should probably be dead. I felt like Spy Hunter or something in that thing. Bought an identical one when I was in my 30's but it was NOT the same. Slow. Zero torque. I can't stand rotaries with exhaust work (loud/irritating) and porting makes them even worse. There are a dozen legitimate reasons to dog an RX-7 but there is something about them also. Yours looks gorgeous.
