Hey Dom, you always say that there are people who are naturally gifted for retraction, and people who are naturally gifted for protraction. Do you find that it's a consequence of training history, or is it pure genetics?

Dude good morning , I need to ask u why can I reach my chest to the bar during pull up is it my position or I need strengthening my grip pls reply
@DominikSky12 жыл бұрын
@@ghostsparta7590 try retracting more! My guess is you are just not strong enough yet... continue working on it and make sure you add some neutral grip perfect pullups with pause in the top position to your training... that'll help! ;)
@JackBeddows3 жыл бұрын
I felt bad because I could only do 5-6 fully protracted chest to bar pull ups. Now hearing Dominik saying 5 of those is good, I'm happy again! :)

OK Dom, we understood how to do perfect pullups. BUT... what technique should we use during WEIGHTED pullups in order to get the most out of this exercise?? I Would love to here your thoughts on that one! BTW, loved the video, Thank you very much for that!

Keep more of a hollow body for weighted pullups

I have been doing the perfect pullups since your first video on them, around a year ago i think. When I first attempted them i couldnt even get a single full rep. I dropped my other pulling movements and focused only on the perfect pullup. I used bands to get full ROM and eventually worked towards single reps with no assistance. These days I hit 5x5 with chest to bar to start my pull workouts, all because of your video. Thank you!
@elicohen81563 жыл бұрын
did it help with your 1rm or any skills?
@ron60523 жыл бұрын
@@elicohen8156 the only skillwork I've been really focusing on in my training is straight arm push. So I'm not sure. As far as raw pull strength goes, regular Pull ups, rows and dragon flags feel like nothing now.

I used to think that your advice on sets of 5, 2/3x a week and no more than 1 accessory exercise was a bit weird. Too little volume or whatever, well, I'll be damned, I wrote a program based on your advice and went from a 3kg weighted pull up to 23kg in 4 weeks (3x3-6 reps), a 22kg weighted dip to 43kg (also 3x3-6 reps) and a 30kg military press to 44kg (also 3x3-6 reps).

Started again with training after long shoulder injury.. not over yet.. I did 6 strict to the chest like you told. I have to verify this I did again today and filmed ,- this time 4 were strict, 2 with shoulders rounded forwards and a tiny kip.. I’m 50 years old. I’m only 178cm (5’a10 ), 77 kg .
@hi36943 жыл бұрын
Definitely humbling. I'm only ~75kg and managed about 3 strict reps. After that I just have no gas for the top ROM. Looking forward to eventually smashing out 10+ of these. The scapula-retraction/perfect form is also useful to carry over to the inverted row, which I think might be my favourite exercise atm.

i did two all the way to my chest after workout.. thak you for that advice! your previous advices made sure that my pull ups are on point.. i allways concentrate on muscles that should be working durring the exercise.. super important! and i still cant belive you did a backflip from 7 meters dominik.. mad respect!!

Great challenge for Vadim Timinov!! I'm pretty sure a lot of the insane climbers (Yves Gravelle, Vadim Timinov etc) could hold a static chest to bar! Climbers specifically train lock offs and a strong climber is not measured by how many pull ups they can do but more so how long they can hold static lock offs!! Thanks for the video, great to see a video detailing the perfect pull up.

Scapular retraction ok but do you also have to do "scapular depression" for this as well? Or is retraction alone sufficient?

Yo man! Last year i started doing pull/chin-ups from your vids. Now it seems I now have diastasis recti as result of doing pull/chin-ups without having worked on my core strength. (without doing much exercise in general in the past) . Seems its very important to have a strong core before doing heavy lifting and thus also chin/pull-ups) ..Maybe give this as advice in future videos? (sure wouldve helped me not damaging my tissue haha) And perhaps you know of any exercise that can close the gap a bit more/faster? Now im only allowed to do girly bridge kinda excercises :)
