Have you got any experience using this controller? ? What MIDI controllers do you have in your setup? Let me know in the comments! : D P.S Everyone ignore the backwards 'JHO ' on the controller... This never happened ... I don't know what you're talking about.

Do you have chance to trying out APC Mini MK2 ? Would love also to see how to maximizing mapping in that controller just like you`ve done with APC 40

I haven't had a chance to try one out as of yet! It does look like a cool upgrade, but personally I am still a fan of the Mk1! Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to try one soon ; if it ain't broke don't fix it that's my motto hahaha

love your content dude very informative as im starting out on VJ as well. I'm currently running the midi shown in this video. barely 3 weeks into this software, I have decent amount of content to practice with. Any advice on what I should focus on first? Or how would you map this Midi if you were to use it? (i get it everybody has their preferences)

Cheers Matey!! : D Glad to be of assistance -- oh lavelly stuff love to hear that. Ooooh what to focus on first dayum that question is a video all in itself hahahaha - erm well as a vague answer I'd say just make sure you're enjoying it! The first and most important thing is to fall in love with Resolume; then everything will spring board of the back of that But as a more technical answer it's difficult to say, it depends on your end goal, but probably would sayyyy basic visual composition is the nuts and bolts of playing live , so I'd focus on having a nice n simple say 120BPM song playing , and just focus on blending between clips! And how would I map it? Pretty similarly to how I map the AKAI APC40MKII , so I'd watch that video and just map the parts you can my guy! Although good questions tho, I think I'd need to make a full video to answer them properly, but I hope that helps my gee!!

Hello mate, you need to go to your Edit MIDI map, MIDI OUT status velocity, and under velocity you should find them all there!

Hi Ho, i am just starting out on VJing and i am still a bit hestitant on buying my first MIDI controller. Have heard many good things about AKAI and saw several cool products from them. Would you recommend improving performance skills in general i.e. getting the visuals right, learning how to transition and compose, etc., but mouse+keyboard only, or straight up investing in a MIDI controller with sliders and lighted buttons showing their state without confusion ? I am coming from the software faction, and I am leaning way more into procedural content, where I need even more controls than just Resolume effects/toggles. But then again, I have two left hands and feel like more thingy-touchies might not improve the quality... Would like to hear your opinion.

Hello There! Great question! So yeah, I would still recommend straight up getting a MIDI controller as soon as you can --- Eventually you'll end up needing to get one anyway; and I think you may aswell get one now so you can get these MIDI mapping skills under your belt ! Using a MIDI controller is one of the fundamentals of being a VJ I think that for learning how to compose and transition a MIDI controller is pretty essential - but makes your visuals a lot more fun to play aswell! By using a MIDI controller, it may help you to look at your composition in a new way, and help spawn new ideas to evolve the current project you are working on! It sounds like you are going to need a lot of sliders and buttons for the way in which you are currently playing --- which is awesome! But for getting the basic composition and transitions, a MIDI controller is the way to go; especially when you get pretty advanced at mapping! So yeah I'd recommend grabbing one as soon as possible - it seems like this controller may be a great option for you ---- It'll teach you the basics of playing Resolume as a performance tool, rather than using it as a software! (P.s I'd recommend looking at OSC stuff aswell for the amount of sliders that you need! I'll be making more content on OSC in the near future which is great for procedural content imo) Hope this helps Gee
