05:45 in case there’s any confusion. Janet DID NOT guess Steve as Jester, even though she had him selected. Notice how she still had the guess ability left after steve was shot. If she was the one who Guessed Steve, then with the lobby settings on one guess per meeting - she would not have the opportunity to guess the others in the lobby.

In all fairness to 5up, he didn't know who killed whereas the impostor (Janet) did. So from his perspective he doesn't need to risk his shot because the impostors should take care of it if it's really a Jester.

True but a lot of impostors in this lobby wouldn’t guess Steve as Jester - so to say “cause he hasn’t be guessed he can’t be Jester” isn’t the right conclusion. I’m just surprised 5up didn’t even contemplate the possibility of a Jester play

It’s pretty clear why it happened this way and why 5up wouldn’t consider Steve being jester. Dumbdog had a good reasoning on why he thought it was Steve, it made sense, dumbdog had no reason to lie, and he wasn’t, he was just wrong, and it seemed like everyone in the lobby including 5up believed DD. Janet guessing him makes a lot of sense because Steve is straight up admitting to a kill that she performed, she knows he didn’t kill round 1 there, so guessing Steve as jester makes a lot of sense (but was still an impressive and quick thinking move on her part none the less).

Re: 5up wishing hacking was more fun, what if Hacking someone blackmailed them? This would solve 3 problems: 1. Usually you don’t hack someone because they’ll know who did it, so if you don’t kill them, they’ll tell - but not if they’re blackmailed 2. Blackmailers usually don’t blackmail bc it gives away an impostor role. Letting the Glitch silence people introduces uncertainty about Glitch vs Blackmailer so crew can’t know a role instantly 3. In the Aurial discussion I believe someone said they didn’t want to make Morphling not-sample so that the Glitch is more unique. Giving the Glitch a blackmail as well makes them more unique and opens the opportunity for removing Morphling sample

The lobby has it set to only ONE guess per Meeting - so that means Janet had NOT used her guess ability - hence was not the one that Guessed Steve. - though I like to think she may have if given some more time - at least she had him hovered as Jester which was a great read!

5up wasn’t guessing Steve because that wasn’t his responsibility. Steve claimed imposter (as opposed to claiming he was a killer), so it was up to the imposters to vote him. There would be no point to 5up taking that risk when there’s 100% an imposter alive who knows whether Steve’s lying.

Sure, but as a killer you should have a “Jester-Radar” which should at least be pinging in that situation

@ Everyone should have a jester radar when imposters give up, not just killers. But in a situation where there’s a 100% chance that imposters are alive and know if it’s a lie, only imposters should act on it. It’s the same logic as cremates voting someone they think might be jester to force the imposters to guess. The only situation where 5up loses here is if the imposters don’t know they need to guess jester on a fake imposter role claim. Otherwise the 2 scenarios are: Imposter hears Steve claim imposter, thinks “no you’re not”, and guesses him. Or Steve’s actually an imposter.

But the scenario you mentioned might happen. If the impostors were both Janet for example, both would have just voted Steve and not guessed, letting him win as Jester (Notice how Janet - the person who killed - already voted Steve but didn’t actually shoot Steve as Jester)

I honestly think Sheriff and/or Vigilante should be able to target Jesters. With the exception of a lucky move by the Swapper, crew has zero defense against a Jester win. But Jesters are a threat to both Crewmates and Impostors alike.

My thoughts were Especially if you see someone vent you should be able to shoot them, it's rare to be an engi, and sometimes the whole lobby can tell jester but no one will shoot them out just because it's easier to avoid voting them until they end up dead or to keep them for a last round guess, lol it'd be funny if sheriff just took it into their own hands at that point bc they knew it was a jester. But I see how if the case of a jester actually succeeding at 'being' a killer would just ruin their game and hence why they say it's up to the imps to get them during meetings. Oops
