Have you found any of those rear screw on filters you mentioned for the PL mount online? I cant find them anywhere! Great video

It's amazing the quality that comes out of such small lenses! Wish more cine lenses came with a macro option. That's why I'm still rocking the Rokinon cine ds because of their macro lens

Great overview! Nice to see they work on the Ronin 4D. Were you able to use the Vespid lenses on the Ronin 4D or were they too heavy?

Great video! I love the way you present your videos. I owned these lenses for a couple of weeks and hated them so much that I returned them and took a 15% restocking fee hit. There is an irrational exuberance with KZbinrs pitching the "micro-contrast" term that means nothing and no one has ever been able to quantify. Micro-contrast is a term that some guy came up with on the forums that stuck, it was originally used to describe Zeiss lenses. Athena lenses are not Zeiss. To my eye, Athenas render a high contrast, over-sharpened, plastic look. They have a weird bright artificial look to them. On crunchy sensors like Sony and Cinema4D (I think DJI uses Sony sensors too), they don't help the image at all and make it look like shot on iPhone. The only time I've seen the Athena lenses look okay are on Red Komodo OG, which normally shoots a muddy image. Maybe they will look good on Alexa. But of course any lens looks good on Alexa. I really think that with Zeiss CP.2 used prices being so low, one is better off buying a set of CP.2 lenses than investing in Athena. This is all of course, my opinion, and lens rendering like art is subjective. Cheers!

Hey Chris, love your videos. What adapter did you use to connect the PL lenses to the Ronin4d? Did you use a PL-E adapter or a PL-DX? Can you share the brand and model please? Thanks for your help!

Do you know is they have released or plan on releasing RF lenses for a Super35mm sensor like on the C70?
7 ай бұрын
There is already RF mount, at this time they have PL (ARRI), E (Sony), RF (Canon), The E & RF have drop in filter. My advice, buy the PL mount and you can use it for life on any type of camera mount with adapter.

Great one! I wish all of you would ask for an EF mount in all those review videos. Because it is what stops me from buying the lenses. Not being able to use the full frame coverage with a Speed Booster on a Super35 Sensor is such a bummer, because the flares and "character" are totally different. On top of that you cannot switch mounts, which means you have to decide what mount you want to buy. A PL Speed Booster is also not working, because the rear mount of the lenses are too long. I just dont know why NiSi didn't implement those features to make it a really great set. I believe it's just for making more money which is kind of sad!

Did you film yourself with a anarmorphic lens? you used the wrong timeline aspect ratio, Your head looks horizontal strechted out, not very natural

Good eyes. I used resolve's built in Desqueeze and it seems to give a little bit of a different result if I manually desqueeze. Will correct that going forward!

@@ChrisFranklinJr thx on my phone it wasnt a big deal tho, but at my 38” ultrawide it was noticeable. But excellent video about the nisi primes. Atm im saving up to buy them too but maybe I will wait for the new set that will be announced, keep up the good work💪🏼

Bro lol, you were so sold on the Vespids. What happened?
@ChrisFranklinJr
@ChrisFranklinJr 7 ай бұрын
I am still sold on the Vespids! I own them. I rented the NiSi because I want anybody who is looking for lenses in the future to have more resources! When it comes to “looks” they’re VERY similar but I do like the NiSi more because of the size. I like the Vespid more because of the variety. But also, the NiSi lenses didn’t exist when I bought my vespids! I wouldn’t sell my Vespids for these but I do think if I were starting from scratch, I’d get these instead!

How in the world 1200$ for single lens consider "budget"? Did I miss something?
@hexotech5202
@hexotech5202 4 ай бұрын
yes you clearly did miss something lol , you might not be aware most cine lens that are not budget range start close to the 5-10K mark par lens. try checking out some Cook signature lens or Zeiss and others out there with big glass then and let me know how much they sell for. even photography lens that are primes some time cost double what the athena are going for.
