It's a good thing I didn't give up on this a The movie Civil War has confirmed that you can still make a banger of a movie with this Camera. Sometimes you gotta wait a year or two to really judge what a camera can really do...

This is good stuff but not for me. I’m a freelancer and get decent sized projects (5-15k). My emailed proposals are plain text. I tell the client in that same email I don’t believe in spending a lot of time on fancy proposal documents and often get great replies.

Man, this is great stuff!! One big piece of advice I really took from something Chris Do said was "every new client/project should be charged more". So although I'm currently not charging these types of prices, I know one day soon I will! My average cost per project is around $2-3k, which I feel like is a step up from last year when it was $1k-$1500/per project. My biggest issue that I'm currently having right now (with a repeat client) is pricing properly and getting a true understanding on the scope of work. I've mainly done client testimonials for them, so those are easy to quote, but more recently they've been wanting other types of videos that require more pre-production and planning. I'm currently trying to storyboard 4-6min video for them (it's a client onboarding video that they'll send to they're clients) and I'm realizing I've never done a proper storyboard for this legnthy of a video. And this video script (which they wrote) has a lot of moving pieces. I'm working my way through it, but if there's one thing I learned that I do, is I start working on a project before even sending or figuring out a quote. Cause I feel like if I don't try and storyboard, then I don't reaaallyy know how much work we'll need to do during production and I might underquote the project. Anyway... just wanted to share lol I'm sure people will read this and think I'm stupid, but that's fine lol

Ha, i bought a pair of cine sigma zooms yesterday. 18-35/50-100 T2 because i got the dji focus lidar. But was not for its AF feature in and of itself. It was to pair with rs4pro gimbal for tracking capabilities, and handunit for AMF/zoom/iris use. I have sony g master zooms in similar range. Also have a slew of 50mm and 85mm old vintage prime lens from helios, zeiss, jupiter, etc. which was original intent of the dji focua system. Its all for solo setup/creation though, not professional hired work. So really had to figure out best workflow operations for how i wanted to use it. And while the sony photo glass is fine and will be used for my most sinple setups, the desire for a pair of cine zooms to fully utilize the dji focus motors all with gears built in, all just working seemed like next best step. Now the hard part comes in finding the stories i want to tell. Love your channel btw.

Great vid. As someone looking at investing in a scrim frame that isn't super expensive I'm wondering if this one can be broken up into smaller dimensions like 4' x 4' or 6' x 6', or can it only be used as an 8' x 8'? Also where do you buy your materials from for your frames?

Well, framing first ( i hate those too offset look interviews, 90% of the time, the interviewer should stand right next to the camera to get the interviewee looking just a tiny bit off the camera. That’s basics. Then lighting, and often times, diffusion, wise location choice and blocking/bouncing is the key. Competing with the sun using even using a 600W LED brings a ton of using and not necessarily the most pleasant look. Another day you might need a 1.2K or more. My 2 cents

Isn't that 650W bi-color light like 3-400W daylight? The max output should be around 4000K when all chips are lit. For outside work I'd rather get a smallrig 450D then, or something, if all my lights are daylight it an be good for inside too, or gel them to match tungsten if needed. I know it's oldschool and not as cool as a touchscreen but works. :D Or even HMI, they are getting dirt cheap.
