Honestly there needs to be more guides for smaller factory tutorials in this game. I think most people that go into this after watching videos is to make a mega base at the start. This is a perfect way of starting out. yes over time your total factory space did grow but following it and noticing the changes worked out well especially in the grassy plain start.

I think a misconception a lot of people go through in starting this game out is the ability to build like this with such ease. This is a fantastic starting video for people but I am afraid of people getting used to the concept of "flying indefinitely" to build, which they can't unlock until the Jetpack if you can even compare it with how unsteady it is. I know there are mods out there but I think most people going into this game will go in without mods or knowing there are mods. I know it doesn't make for an interesting video, but building without mods would be neat to dissect and look at.

No longer an issue since the Just Fly mod is now built into the game. See the Advanced Game Settings. I always disliked the Jetpack and have never used it. As for people not knowing about mods. Really great tutorial...I've been building this factory while playing/pausing your video, and I've learned so much about this game. I'm building all of this above my original starting base because of limited real estate. I've found an area with 3 pure iron nodes, 1 pure copper node and 1 pure limestone node, all within 150 meters of one another, but it's kind of hemmed in by stone cliffs. This was a perfect excuse to build a big platform above, and slowly deconstruct my original machines as I completed the various lines from your build. I'm just about to add the overflow pieces, but I'm already anxious to dive into the next video. Thanks so much for taking the time to explain and describe in such detail how to ramp up manufacturing of the basic components.

Ah, my guy, I know *exactly* which spot you're talking about. It's a wonderful spot, if a little on the cramped side. I started building my megafactory there, though I started it around the time Update 3 came out. I was super utilitarian at the time, so even though I took huge amounts of lateral and vertical space I ended up building these massive, hyper-cramped, difficult to navigate buildings. I'm thinking I want to tear it all down and start over, making something truly worthwhile with the space. Anyway, props to you have having a good eye for real estate lol

This is by far the best Tutorial video for this game. Your calm voice helps, too :) For Concrete, once you have Mk2 line you can run it at full efficiency. Instead of underclocking, grab a Normal and an impure node for a total of 90 units merge them then split them for a perfect 45 to run your constructors flat out. The extra 4 Mw is well worth the efficiency boost of your concrete production. this is of course correct for load balanced factories. Right now I always use manifold because when you start upgrading along the way your output will constantly increase and load balanced systems are hard to upgrade. Again Awesome video series!!

Great guide but there is a COLOSSAL playtime gap between the conveyer belt mk2 upgrade and smart splitters. I'm talking a good ten hours. For you to research smart splitters, you need gold. To be able to mine gold, you need to blow up the boulder on top of gold ore deposits. That requires explosives which requires sulfur which requires mining sulfur as well as sulfur research and getting a ton of other collectibles / research up. Since I'm a newb maybe I'm missing something but I feel like you could have mentioned that or idk. Nonetheless its still an amazing guide. Thank you!.

'm not sure - it really depends on your pace. For example the first space elevator speed time is less than half an hour. I normally take 4 hours to do the first space elevator phase but at the same time, the caterium doesn't necessarily need to have a boulder removed, most of them don't have boulders and even those that do can be manually mined if thats what you want to do, by placing a portable miner on the node the boulders on. Again though, there is no rush, take it at your leisure 🙂

probably too late to help but you probably have either you're splitter or elevator input outputs the wrong way around so the goods simply aren't moving. I did this in the early days and took me ages to find out what I had done wrong

Honestly, until I send off my first payload in the space elevator, I don't bother building anything nice. It feels great setting up a proper factory when I have tons of resources so I can place all the buildings and flooring I need at the same time, and just work on the factory when I have more free time. That's why my first build is put down as fast as possible in any possible direction without worrying about clipping. Once I build the factory later and have it ready, I just quickly replace the miner and build it on top of 4m high foundations, get an elevator straight into the miner and route it right onto the factory. THEN I can take my time removing the mess without sacrificing too much efficiency.

I just got the game this past weekend and I'm already loving it. I have some spaghetti factory going but with update 6 coming out today or tomorrow I figure it's a good time to just scrap it and use what I've learned so far to be a little more efficient on my next one. @@TotalXclipse thanks. I've been following along as I build and chose build in nearly the same area, mostly using your video to understand the ratios better and how to split lines to limit waste. it's been a huge help. the only "issue" I've come to is the point in the video where you unlock smart splitters to feed the sink is far earlier than "normal" gameplay would allow. this may have something to do with the changes to tech tree in the M.A.M for update 6 because you can't progress the Caterium tree far enough until you have stun bolts for the rebar gun, which you can't get until you unlock the rebar gun because it takes regular rebar bolts to research and you can't unlock the rebar gun until you progress nearly the entire alien organics tree and in my specific case, I'm having trouble locating spider enemies to their stingers it's not a huge problem, it just means there's a few extra steps required before having smart splitter
