The Perfect Trip to Madrid Spain!

Country # 36, the sun kissed, Spain! 🇪🇸 We have been traveling for over 24 hours and have arrived in beautiful Madrid, Spain! We are giddy with excitement as we begin our adventure in this new to us, country!
After a very exciting taxi ride, we arrive at our "Home away from Home" the Thompson, Madrid a Hyatt property.
When we arrive our room isn't quite ready so they sit us down and serve us our first "Hamon and Cava" in Spain! It was delicious! Our wait wasn't long and oh so worth it! The staff were eager to show us our room and on several occasions we were told we were staying in the BEST room they offered!
"Me" had emailed each hotel we stayed in and asked if there was anything special they could do for us since it was my birthday and our first visit to their city! WOW! Those emails paid off! We have a beautiful corner suite with an amazing view!
After exploring our room, we go out to walk around and see some of this exciting city and to try to stay awake a little longer to combat "jet lag" ! It's a REAL thing!
We wonder down to the Gran Via, sometimes referred to as "Spanish Broadway" is one of the city's most important shopping and dining areas.
We find a rooftop bar and decide to have a drink and some food. Sky 44 is a cute little rooftop bar that has wonderful views of downtown Madrid. It has a perfect view of many famous buildings including the Metropolis Building and the famous Schweppes sign. The tables with a view are limited so come early to get a good table. We enjoyed a few plates of Tapas, including octopus 🐙, my favorite! This was such a delightful way to spend a few hours!
We start our journey back to the Thompson Madrid and make a stop at a local McDonalds to see what kind of different items they have in Spain!
Back at the hotel we make it an early evening and finally go to sleep after 24 hours+ of being awake.
