Used old telephone poles for a retaining wall out at my property so I know exactly what you mean, I think it's either the tar or the oil they use to treat them, but man they're brutal
@jamesiverson67427 жыл бұрын
MegaTiki there's a video on KZbin of how they're made I think. I watched a special on it and they impregnate it like PT lumber, with a bunch of insane chemicals including it was either cyanide or arsenic. Probably arsenic. But yeah they're nasty as all get out.

Get yourself a 'log pick', Oregon make them. Red handled, about 80cm long. They works wonders for dragging timber around. They can even lift if you knock the point in hard enough. I use mine in the forest all the time.

@Avrohomperl7 жыл бұрын
Were the verticle pieces an afterthought to help keep the thing from racking or was that planned? Super cool, can I come over :D
@AndyRawls7 жыл бұрын
+Avrohom Perl I'm a little embarrassed to admit it but the axe wasn't sticking well in the cross grain, so I ran vertical boards so the axe would be stick better with the grain of the wood. Typically you would use end grain but that seems like too much work.
@Avrohomperl7 жыл бұрын
Makes sense, looks great!
@lilypower7 жыл бұрын
Andy Rawls and when this one is done with, make it out of endgrain, it sticks beautifully and Will last a lot longer! nu childhood neightbour Always had a Target on his yard, usually made of a large stump 😊
@AndyRawls7 жыл бұрын
Karl Liljeström yes I plan on it! I don't think it will take long to wear out. I plan on hanging a couple tree stumps on the next go around.
@lilypower7 жыл бұрын
, use he beated up planks to make a "endgrain cuttingboard" and it will hold a while as well, however it will hold better the longer the the pieces are! and make sure to make a frame aronud it or u will chip it apart quite fast ;) is that an ordinary scout axe? have never tried to throw one of those! my neightbour have a couple double bit throwing axes, have never tried throwing a "normal" axe
