Björk said in an interview “I wear masks because it’s a way to hide and reveal. With masks I feel protected, but it also helps me kinda be more expressive in the ways I know I can be generous to people that I don't know and give certain things to my close ones”. So I think that maybe she's using a mask during the performances to reveal that which is really emotional underneath, especially in the context of her last two albums, "Vulnicura" and "Utopia", which are brutally honest and share herself in an extreme way. Somehow, though, I don't like not being able to see Björk’s wonderful facial expressions and the nuance of her emotions.
