This is by far the finest in-house production of 'Phantom', whether by a college, university or other amateur company, I have yet seen -and I have seen many productions over the years including many times the orignal London staging. All the young leads and the entire company here have the talent and numbers to perform this most demanding of musicals and to successfully'bring it off'. The young Christine has a lovely clear voice easily encompasing even the top of the range, seemingly effortlessly, whilst the Phantom has for a change more than all the notes and the security of voice to sing The Music of the Night totally musically, making his rendition very much his own. Raoul is both good-looking, and once again more than an able singer to be a foil to the Phantom. But then in this production, the young and dark-haired anti-hero, even with the scarring make-up, is probably the best-looking Phantom yet to hit any stage, making it for once understandable why Christine falls under his spell. Carlotta can also more than sing her role as the diva -a big challenging sing for a young voice. But importantly , all the other ensemble parts are talented enough for once to weave all the intricasies of the 'Prima Donna' scene confidently. This scene is usually a minefield for most companies and is so often a total mess. Only the crucial organ opening of the overture is less than adequate in the playing and in creating the necessary gothic atmosphere for all that follows; and I also missed the Phantom's written discordant organ chords which awaken Christine 'the morning after the night before' in the Phantom's lair. But the playing of the hidden band was unusually equally supportive throughout -including the taxing and high horn part which so often marrs many performances. There are now a fair number of amateur productions of 'Phantom' here to be found on KZbin; but this very recent 'in-house' one with its' talented young cast and own company staging, to my mind beats them all. It was disappointing after such a fine accomplishment not to have posted a concluding cast list and of everyone else involved. But nevertheless, and indistputabley, "Bravo! Bravo!"

The Christine is amazing and the Phantom is good, but the Raoul has not a good voice, sorry!

This Raoul has a good tone but he needs some work. With more direction he could be great.

I went to high school with The Phantom, Christine, Raoul and Carlotta, and sang in a jazz choir with them. From first hand experience and from just being friends with them all, I can say they are all fantastic singers. But it is worth noting that Raoul was only a sophomore when he did this production, whereas the rest were seniors. Right now at least, the Raoul singer has improved a ton and is a fantastic vocalist.
