it is said that no one ever has actually played DnD, because no one makes it to a game. All the DnD stories are actually lies that people says to pretend they've played the game and feel part of a community. The only way to actually play is to have an internet show where the players are employees, that's why everyone wants to be Matt Mercer.

This is totally a thing with non-D&D community groups too!! I had to build a 30 min pre-meeting social chunk into our monthly sessions because our team members actually get on, and want to just yak for ages! 😆 Only problem is, people then start arriving later and later, so between the pre-mtg chat and wrangling the constant in-meeting random tangents, home-time kept getting later and later...? It's great the attendees were enjoying it so much they hang around, but bit of a headache as the host, who still has to clean up once they leave! 🙄

@faolan2174
@faolan2174 Жыл бұрын
Yep. I started up a campaign last summer specifically to include a former player who had not been able to play for a while because his work schedule didn't match up with everyone else's. He really wanted to get back to playing, so I was going to DM a campaign with some more flexible players, and we were willing to work around his schedule. Problem was, he was really bad at communicating with me what his schedule was. We finally juts started the first session without him, things kinda petered out after that... A couple months later and his schedule had opened up again for him just to join back into the other group again. And I'm just restarting my campaign with an entirely new group. 💀 Moral of the story: freakin' communicate with your DM!

Ah we had a "doing something the DM isn't expecting" moment last time we played. So our world has three sets of groups of character setup in our world doing different things. Its a family game so there is only three of us playing, but two us, me and the dm (his choice), run one character from each group. Currently group one and two are together in another realm trying to stop a war to keep the enemy from crashing that realm into our own. Group three is back at one of the Hamlet researching the corrupted manor that group one was going to have to deal with as a major plot line for the three characters of group one, Darkest Dungeon Dnd game. Well after finding out the Deck of many things, a hoard reward and having some crazy stuff happen yet again the last character, Remus, pulls his one card... An uber wish! Remus is the owner of the estate that Hamlet is on and knows everything that had happened in the manor. The plan was once Remus's group got back to the Hamlet they would prepare to storm it to kill the ancestor at the heart of the manor ending the bad stuff happening and saving the world. Yeah... Remus wished that his ancestor never went into the depths if the manor so some of resulting events 300 hundreds of years later really happened. All the gods were never killed, the manor never was corrupted, and many other things. The DM decided to cut to White because we need to rewrite probably... 5 of the 7 character's background because of some of the events. Example being Remus might not exist.
