For me, i understand why jo doesn't like spankings. For me personally though, i feel like timeouts are NOT effective as well as taking away an electronic or tv time. Taking something they love works as well.

If parents use violence to solve problems and challenge disrespect, the children will use violence to solve problems and challenge disrespect with violence. There's a reason research shows that kids who were spanked as kids were more likely to display antisocial behaviour in adulthood, as well as other issues like poor mental health and lower IQ than non spanked kids.

Mom is so negative and she hits its no wonder her kids talk back and hit...gee wonder where they learned it from? Mom has no faith that if parents behavior changes that the kids will reflect it and they wont have to spank. Shes spanking them for reflecting her behavior, ironic.
