@@cherylbartow5311 I didn’t realize the gravity of it at the time. I didn’t like it, but I wasn’t going to disrespect my dad (especially on live TV). It was very embarrassing since I was a freshman in a new town and new school. A small school at that. I’m sure it’s a huge reason I’m such a codependent now. I’m always taking care of others before myself and even as I try to break free from that, it feels wrong to put myself first. I use humor as a coverup and try to find something funny in situations that aren’t so I would use this story in a one truth two lie option for the break the ice games and it was a good option until a coworker found it as I was sharing the story. It was very hard to watch the entire thing, but I did and I never want to see it again. My whole it’s not lust comment makes me sick. At the time I thought it was grown up thing to say. I was told not to talk about my mom and so when the lady asked about my mom I just said, “She is alive”. For years I thought I said she died (to stop any further conversation about it). I’m really glad I didn’t say that because my mom did see it. My daughter is 13 now and I would never put her in this situation, but I still love my dad. It was eye opening to watch this as a now 47 year old woman. I was cute. I didn’t know it. I knew I was a sweet kid and I am a kind adult. As unfortunate as this experience was, I understand that we are all just human and doing the best we can. If I had to choose to let things play out again the same way…I would have to let it happen again. I got one of the best sisters a girl could have out of the deal. And I’m big on past experiences not defining who you are. When you are an adult, you get to decide who you are…and I did decide. I know my Inappropriate Amy name may look like I don’t have values, but there is a back story. I got the name from some coworkers. They would say some story and I would just add something at the end. One I remember is I walked into a conversation betweena couple of coworkers about a lady being arrested in a KFC for breastfeeding in public. Apparently it was her adult son and I simply said “Oh.. that’s sweet. Besides, drinks are expensive.” So it’s just a social media thing for fun. I think the whole experience keeps me humble.
