My favorite phil ivey moment was when a guy had the nuts vs him both all-in, phil is off put by the guy standing up like he could get eliminated, when the guy argues Phil had a 1 outer phil just calmly says back "Never mind, we just look at things differently." lol I know it doesn't seem like an important moment but it showed so much class about how to handle situations and actually was inspiring cause in that situation I would of just got upset and yelled at guy.

What do you guys think, should Phil have to pay the casino that 13MM for finding an “angle” at the casino for baccarat? Personally I think he beat them at their own game since they set rules for his action.
@harryb31643 жыл бұрын
He already did pay them I believe as he lost the case. I don’t think he should have been sued at all because he technically didn’t cheat and found flaws in the cards. The casino even granted every request he made including using a certain deck of cards. If the house grants it then how is it considered cheating?

It’s completely unfair, imagine having to pay a corporation for having done exactly what was agreed upon in a prior agreement.

My Phil Ivey Story… I was one of the people that got on the poker bandwagon after Chris Moneymaker won WSOP in 2003. It became all I could think about and do in my spare time (and even not in my spare time…like when I should have been working, I was thinking/reading about poker). Having a casino in my City - with a poker room - meant I spent many, many nights after work and on weekends there playing (to the point that the dealers knew me by name before I sat down (but I don’t have a gambling problem…I swear!)). I dreamt of going to Vegas to play poker “for real” and to possibly meet some of the players seen on TV. In 2006, my dreams came true! My friend’s husband flew a lot for his job and amassed a ton of frequent flyer points…so he gifted to his wife and me a “girls’ weekend” in Vegas. I was besides myself! Soooooo excited! It wasn’t WSOP time, but nonetheless I was super excited. And like a giant nerd that I am, I had a special deck of cards, with special pens AND markers (just in case “they” wanted to use a marker instead of a pen)…and my master plan was that if I see a “celebrity poker pro” I would ask them to sign across their favorite NL hand. Cards, markers, pens…red, black and blue. Giant nerd! So off to Vegas I go with my special baggie of special cards, special pens and markers. Everywhere we went we were looking for poker pros…and couldn’t find ANY (that we saw on TV). We went to the Bellagio and tried to peer into that “Bobby’s Room” and the couple of times we were there the room was EMPTY. The whole 3 days was a constant look out for poker pros each time we were in a casino…to no avail. It was our last night in Vegas…we tried ONE MORE TIME to go to the Bellagio and see someone…ANYONE…in that Bobby’s Room…NOTHING! Played cashed game for a few hours in Bellagio’s poker room…and being somewhat deflated (for not seeing any pro), started the long walk out of the casino. That was it…we were leaving the next day. My cards were unsigned. Oh well. As we were walking through the casino, we pass an entrance way…and in walks this GIANT OF A MAN! I’m 5-foot…and he seemed to be 10 feet tall! (and you always see them sitting down…so you don’t realize how big they are until you are passing them in a hallway!!!!)... *** It was PHIL IVEY !!!! *** All my synapsis fired at once…my cards! Pens! Markers! Signature!...wait, stop, I have special cards…need to sign!...my brain was a whirlwind of thoughts! And as I passed him…being only like 2 feet away from him, all that could come out of my mouth was... “uhhh…Hhhhiii!”… ...my tongue got all thick…words didn’t form right…my brain was exploding. “uhhh…hhhiiii!”????!?!?!?! My friend was walking ahead of me and she turned around and was like “was that Phil Ivey?”…I was like “uh hun”…still not being able to make words properly…she was like “well get him to sign your cards”…I was like “I can’t…I just can’t”…she’s like “you brought special cards and all the markers and pens…”…”I know…I just can’t do it”. Since then I have been back to Vegas 5 times to play in WSOP events (NOT the main event…the “cheaper” events) and I have seen other poker pros off in the distance (even Daniel (who I would love to meet in person, but I’m scared that if I do, I will forget how to make words again)) and I just don’t know how to approach them and not be bothering them. But maybe someday I’ll get my cards signed.

On the roster Dnegs, Ivey, Matusow, Oppenheimer, Benyamine, Grey, Seed, and any other notable mixed game OG'S I'm forgetting. Possibly even bringing it to the producer's of highstakes poker and put it on poker go.
