@@whatdatechnodogedoin Filipino politicians pushed for independence to grab control over those sweet rehabilitation funds, even though they knew the Philippines would have been better off remaining an American territory for a while.

@@cashewnuttel9054 actually don't just blame the Philippine Government. Also blame the American government, the US was unwilling to let the Philippines remain an American territory because it was too much of a liability to the US government, that they were desperate to get rid of the Philippines. And after WW2, with the US occupying Japan and other countries after the war, they couldn't just afford to keep the Philippines as an American territory because of too much costs

@@TheKnowledgeMan101 the reason why philippines got liberated is because of the commonwealth. the independence was supposed to happen 1945 but since the war happened it took them the next year.
