PRRD did the groundwork, and made the necessary changes, while PBBM did the marketing abroad, to attract the FDIs. The one thing PBBM seems to be having a hard time on, is having his own kababayans (countrymen) fully behind him. There's a lot of politicking, bickering, libel, insinuations, innuendos, and now even murder. I pray the changes in the constitution would go thru, thats another FDI driver that would probably put us on par with our neighbors. Probably.

Doubtful we can overtake Vietnam and Indonesia in FDI's. We missed out the opportunity from US-China decoupling when some of the supply chains are going anywhere thanks to Duterte who is belligerent to US. Yes, open investments are good idea, but then we still lack the infrastructure to make this work. Also, the rule of law is problematic. If you go to US, even rural towns have factories and industries running and that is the difference between Philippines and developed countries.

An economic miracle is possible if our country is opened to FDI through constitutional reform. As of this moment, it's impossible to happen, as the FDI is limited to only a maximum of 40%. The Philippines should first come up with harsh foolproof laws against corruption to increase government funds to fuel economic growth. Then concentrate with making effective systems to eliminate red tape. Afterwards with the added money from the strict anti corruption policies develop the economic zones with company training facilities usually in provinces with emphasis to affordable energy supply and easy access infrastructures to make it more attractive especially since provinces has low wages. Next give 1 year tax reliefs to pioneer industries like what they did in Singapore. These things had help countries from poor economic development to be one of the developed countries in the world. Right now we should stop looking at foreign investors as cash cows instead we should also treat them as people who are also looking for profit.
