New Thinking Allowed with Jeffrey Mishlove

Күн бұрын

Christian de Quincey, PhD, is dean of consciousness studies at the University of Philosophical Research. He is a faculty member at John F. Kennedy University and Sophia University. He is founder and director of the Wisdom Academy. He is author of Radical Nature: The Soul of Matter, Radical Knowing: Understanding Consciousness Through Relationship, Consciousness From Zombies to Angels: The Shadow and the Light of Knowing Who You Are, Deep Spirit: Cracking the Noetic Code, and Blindspots: 21 Good Reasons to Think Before You Talk.
Here he challenges the notion of the individual as an isolated, subjective entity. In our depths, he claims we are connected with the universe at large at every level. He contrasts this transpersonal view with the notion popular in sociological circles that human identity is formed by the social power structures with which we interact. He also discusses “telepathy” in a philosophical context as the exchange of meaning through feeling. He describes this approach as a valid philosophical epistemology or method of knowing about the world. It is through being in touch with our own bodily sensations that we are able to feel our larger connectivity with the universe. He also relates this connection to esoteric concepts regarding subtle bodies.
New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). His master's degree is in criminology. He serves as dean of transformational psychology at the University of Philosophical Research. He teaches parapsychology for ministers in training with the Centers for Spiritual Living through the Holmes Institute. He has served as vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology, and is the recipient of its Pathfinder Award for outstanding contributions to the field of human consciousness. He is also past-president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people are encouraged to cultivate and apply their inner, intuitive abilities. His American Indian name, chosen at age eight, is Soaring Eagle.

I LOVE that they're talking about epistemology. I have been proselytizing about the importance of this branch of philosophy to my fellow engineers for 10+ years. Epistemology is what we need to learn in order to sort out the sh*t from the Shinola. This could help people reject reductionist materialism and see the light radiating from a worldview where we are all one.

loving the "chemical-bathroom" echo approach the cool thing about intersubjectivity is that it's a real phenomena, and not a 'position' but a psychological reality or a possibility that opens up reality more and more. also, mr. christian de quincey reminds me of this guy: Oblivion NPC Dialogue - Oranges - (But i say this as a compliment, unironically.) it's really a shame that figures like zizek don't take jungian position of processing your own psyche alongside political activism as viable in critical practical position. while on the other hand he acknowledges that certain (what can be viewed as) nonviolent passive position can be very radical as an ethical action.

Distinguishing between sensation and emotion when saying feeling was a critical point of clarity.

Christian de Quincey, PhD needs to have to have his own KZbin channel! He is a beautiful thinker and points to a new direction for our moment in history! I recommend watching all of his videos through New Thinking Allowed.

The philosopher Edmund Husserl also had a lot to say about intersubjectivity, although his exact meaning is somewhat difficult to isolate in an easily understandable concept.

Well that settles that, thanks Vladimir! Any more insights to share? Less granularity would be appreciated though, you went too detailed with that one.
