Good job Ali, Question for you: which design criteria is the one behind B31.3 code? I watched this video but I didn't get the answer. I know that for ASMS sec.VIII div.1 the maximum principle stress theory is the answer but for B31.3 I don't know. Really appreciate your time.

The answer of your question is covered in the course, please continue 🙂 ASME B31.3 used different failure theories for different purposes, For example the maximum principle stress for wall thickness calculation and Maximum shear stress theory for the computed stress range!

Hello Mr Ali Nouri, Thank you for sharing your valuable knowledge and experience regarding piping design and construction. However, I have a question regarding the ASME standard, is it also applied in European countries? As I see you are currently working in Norway. is it the same applies in Norway and Sweden for example. And if it is not the case, what would be the official standard for EU countries? Thank you in advance!

In Norway we are using NORSOK standard that is based on ASME B31.3. (Norway is not part of European Union) In some countries in European Union, EN is popular. there are some differences between EN and ASME as the EN is more economic!🙂
