if you think about it - in this movie King Richard and Prince John are depicted as lions whereas Maid Marian is a vixen so they're technically both "phony kings of England" because it doesn't make sense for a vixen to have two uncles who are both lions

Weirdest thing is John actually did become King of England after King Richard died leaving England in a mountain of debt all for a pointless crusade. For his entire reign Richard didn't even stay in England an entire 6 months before he died, preferring to use it as a resource of soldiers and money for his armies.

~Two-Tailed Cat~​ John Withoutland wasn't a good king either. First of all he illegaly became king since he was strip of any inerithance from his brother Richard (since he tried to betray him). And as a king he wasn't such a big deal since... a) He lost most of the English possessions in France, more or less ending the Angevin Empire and b) He got slapped around by the Pope (granted, a lot of High Medieval monarchs were slapped around by the Pope.) c) He got slapped around by his Barons, leading to the Magna Carta d) as Robin Hood teach us he was INDEED very greed and taxed English people to pieces and e) Aside from loosing his empire to the formally pathetically weak French Monarchy, he also almost lost England as well, and only managed to keep a Louis from conquering the Island by dying so that his Barons could unite behind someone they liked better.
