Interesting video and I just don't know what to think about A. I. However, I am grateful that I do photography is a past time not a career as it unsure time ahead.

It’s photorealistic computer-generated illustration. It’s not photography because it was not - by definition - created by capturing light. I have tried Midjourney a couple of times, and there is a certain skill to using it to get the best results, or the one you had in mind. It’s very hit and miss, with a lot of unusable stuff. I was trying to get images for the pitch for a post-apocalyptic sic-fi series I have to design. I found a Google image search did just as good a job, although there are certain copyright issues with those images, they are not for public showing. Let’s not forget that CGI has been used in product photography adverts for years. Most car ads have computer generated cars in them, rather than real ones, because it’s easier and cheaper than using real pre-production models, and there’s also the secrecy aspect too. Documentary type photography, such as news, live music, weddings, etc aren’t under threat because they are can’t be faked. Or they could but it would be career suicide and too easy to spot. But anything illustrative, that’s another matter.

Yeah, I think you're right. Definitely interesting technology that is bound to affect things like advertising etc but how could it possibly replace news/wedding photographers?

try standard diffusion using controlNET. its takes a while to setup and learn but out put is more controllable.

what ever you think this guy is smart and innovative 💡 what counts is the results but one thing he should have been honest since the beginning 😉 and I am sure he could get as much followers But I hope the best to him.for sure photo media will approach him.

Definitely an interesting project, I agree. Still not convinced about the ethics but that's partly why I made this video, to encourage conversation. Thanks for watching.

I think he's an artist, but clearly no photographer. These are images, not photos, as you describe it. They're great, but not photos. I don't think photography will go away. At least not in the press sector. Photos show (a part of) the truth. Ok, it's easy to have an AI take a "press photo". But as soon as a "real" photographer takes a picture of this event, the truth and the fake come out. Back when we were still shooting with film, we not only had to give the agency the negative (or slide) in question, but also the ones before and after. To prove the picture isn't posed. So an AI would not just have to "make" a picture, but a whole series.

I'm a photographer and I also make image with AI. AI generated pictures are art but they are NOT photographs in my opinion. The tools are different and so are the skills. Both can produce beautiful results but one is not the other.

I agree, but the ethical considerations are another matter altogether.

@@SteveGerrardPhotography I disagree and here's why. I challenge any artist to look at some AI generated pictures and say this wee bit of this picture here is from one of my paintings. I would be extremely surprised if any could do that. The pieces are so small and gathered from all over the net. It would be like someone complaining about a new piece of music because it has notes in it that have been used by someone else. There are very good painters out there who can copy art works completely and often fool lots of people into thinking their work is the original. If AI is doing that then it's the fault of the person putting in the prompt, not the tool they are using. I do wish however, that AI artists would stop making AI pictures of copyrighted images such as actors, cartoon characters etc. The more of that there is out there the more likely copyright laws will change to squash it and that could have really restrictive effects on all AI artists, even the ones who are trying to make genuinely original art pieces.
