It's amazing this line survived Beeching, just the kind of thinly populated line his report took aim at. Maybe they played it clever, didn't make noise like "Hands off our railway!!", managed to stay below the radar, and survived!

Used to love this belting along in a 1st gen unit, quite exhilarating with the state of the track & the train swaying from side to side. Now I think they should split it at Llandovery & run separate trains from West Wales & from Chester. It's too long on a train without refreshments.

I guess the purpose of these videos is to show the public at large the beautiful countryside they could be seeing if they travel by train. The videos made by Don Coffey and also by companies such as Video125 are aimed at railway enthusiasts and so are much more informative about the railway itself. It might have been better to start this video at Craven Arms, so we could see more of the Heart of Wales line, in particular the part of it that's actually in Wales! It's nicely filmed but I'm not so keen on the music.

The journey I have just watched bears no resemblance to the description given above. The section from Shrewsbury to Knighton is in ENGLAND yet supposedly the filming location is WALES.Only in the final bit from Knighton to Knucklas does the line cross the border. We get to see none of the notable landmarks as the video ends at Knucklas station, just short of Knucklas Viaduct which is first on the list. I cannot believe that whoever wrote/copied the description has watched the video. Hower as cab rides go it was quite interesting

Admittedly it says "WALES" in the first few seconds of the video, but the bookmark image says "THE WELSH BORDERS" and the description says "Heart of Wales Line", and it IS the Heart of Wales line. Unfortunately the weather deteriorated beyond Cnwclas (imagine that, rain - in Wales!) and the quality of the video wasn't good so it wasn't put online.

I've noted several comments to the effect that this video would have been much better from producers such as Don Coffey or Ben Elias. I wholeheartedly agree. They provide maps, annotations of the progress through the various stations and lots of useful geographical and historical information about the routes and country travelled through. They are knowledgeable enthusiasts for rail. Unfortunately, this is a publicity video for National Rail, who know very little about railways!

Great to see the Heart of Wales Line from the driver's cab. But why include the detail of the shoothing, hypnotic sounds of rail travel in the comment, just to spoil the magical ride by hiding that melodious natural soundtrack with some unsoothing musical track that has no rhythm to the journey or relationship with the sound of steel wheels on steel rails?
