Im schizophrenic and watching these types of people who most likely DO NOT EVEN HAVE IT adopt delusional mindsets and loose association pattern seeking is so scary and bizzare to me. Ive had to have a therapist help me find ways for me to take down delusional thinking at it's root that is almost an innate reaction to them. I talked another person with schizophrenia in the comments of an anti-conspiracy video and they described to me having this specifically shaped hole in your world that you keep trying to fill. I kinda sensed there might be something more universal to that phenomenon, but I didn’t want to say anything because it might be cheapening his experience. Now that you are a second person with schizophrenia to point out this pattern of thinking occurring in the larger population, I really think there may be something to this concept. My sister’s brother-in-law / my brother-in-law’s brother has paranoid schizophrenia, and there is some kind of neurodivergence going on in my brain, so I am always trying to relate to how others think. Maybe it’s dumb, but it feels illuminating, nonetheless…

@AnkhAnanku Through being very involved with mental health research and scholarly studies due to me finding out I've been misdiagnosed for most of my lived life, I've come to understand how common this is GENERALLY. It's obviously more so today for reasons like misinformation/ internet/ and surrounding socioeconomic state (that is worsening mental health), but I think that there has always been a degree of this, just not as bad. I can't really say anything for noncurrent stuff, since a lot of studies just were outdated in their knowledge of mental health overall. I really believe all of mental health has been a spectrum, even if you don't "have" something or dont "have" the specific psychiatric disorder you usually find it in. Mental illness diagnoses categorization was just a way of making treating people with similar groups of symptoms easier. You can definately see that with medications and therapies that TARGET certain areas. It's great to see us moving forward, but in a sense, i feel like this categorization is going to eventually be unhelpful for things like we're talking about right now. There's two types of people in my mind right now: The mis/undiagnosed and the neurotypical They will be untreated or not get the correct treatment because the symptoms they have do not bother them or make them struggle in life. I honestly had no problem with my hallucinations or delusions, they didnt disrupt my life negatively nor did i care for them. So, i never talked about them in therapy, why would I? It did not affect me. I had other symptoms ("negative symptoms", look that up if you don't know what it means), that affected me daily. It would be most of what i would express concern about. I was diagnosed with ADHD because of it. There is major overlap between all diagnoses and this really doesnt help. For the neurotypical people who have been tested and nothing has come up. They can STILL BE neurotypical and display traits of other psychiatric disorders. This can be a concern as well. They may have delusions but it will go under the radar of the psychiatrist screening this person because they do not present any other symptoms that fit into any psychotic disorder category. They will never know they are delusional. Theres no one to tell them they are. Even the person screening them will not know because the screening questions are so shit. They will be like "do you fear people are out to get you?", "Do you fear people trying to poison your food?", stuff like that. There is no good question they can ask to see this dumb politically fueled delusions they're having. Before, diagnosis i was not aware i was having delusions or hallucinations (well sometimes i was, but not all my instances). I doubt these people will ever ever know they are delusional, theyve had no one with credibility point it out to them, they had no one help them cope with it. This goes for more than just delusions. It can be with any symptom of a neurodivergence. Anyone can have anything without "having" the illness it pertains to. That or it simply is the spectrum of neurodivergence, that i think, reaches all. Sorry 4 the rant, i'm very passionate about this stuff
