This was wonderful! She was only 10, and she did a better interview than a lot of adult journalists. The Captain was an excellent subject because he treated her like a journalist instead of a kid. Much respect to both!

Well done Eve. Capt. Richard De Crespigny should be honored by naming one of the QF's Airbus after him. He seemed very calm and well organized.

Well done Eve, I wouldn't be surprised if, in a few years time while I'm sitting on a Qantas A380 somewhere out there, I'll hear your voice come over the PA introducing yourself as our Captain. I will remember your name and most definitely will feel a sense of security knowing we are in good, capable hands with you at the controls. Whatever your dreams and plans are, you will achieve them and I wish you well. What an awesome young lady.

If they awarded the Victoria Cross Medal in the aviation industry then Capt. Richard De Crespigny would be a truly deserving recipient. This man is a true modern day hero. He would dismiss this and say he was only doing his job. Well under extraordinary duress and chaotic circumstances he saved many lives which history shows should have been lost. What a remarkable, humble man,

Not really, The book is mostly all about his being a shit-hot pilot, from the time he was in the AAF and later at Qantas. Very little about the actual QF32 in-flight incident.

An excellent interview and wonderful job. Once when I was returning home (Sydney Australia) from Istanbul, Turkey in 2012, the Etihad Airline which I was onboard was doing well until we reached Abu Dhabi Airport that's when the captain announced some steering issues. It was a nightmare, I found myself in the jaws of death all I did first, I prayed to Allah to save me and all others and in case of a crash, to forgive me it was a blackout for me and secondly to remain calm and not to get agitated and not to make noises I know it's hard to describe. But fortunately the captain somehow managed to safely land the plane, but he had to land and stop it somewhere in the airport not to the corridors.

Hi Sabrewolf85 It was not just that one engine stopped working which you are correct is easy to navigate through. It was that the engine broke apart and damaged many other parts of the plane. This made it very hard, close to impossible to fly. Captain De Crespigney goes into great detail in his book about the problems. -Eve evecogan com

originally, Richard wanted to perform an Armstrong spiral [If you're into planes and stuff, you'll know what that is] but the other pilots disagreed and so that ended up landing at Changi.

Eve - should get yourself a microsoft flightsimulator so that you can start flying nearly all types on a pc the a 380 is available as an addon but its going to be quite difficult to work through - but very rewarding.. start with small propeller craft and work your way up to jets. much good scenery and computers make for a rewarding experience.

how is that they have not decided to land asap when there was huge posibilitiy for the plane to explode with wiring torn apart and fuel leak?
@bs25029 жыл бұрын
winter july It was their intention to land asap, but to land as soon as safely possible. The damaged aircraft was flying and responsive to critical components needed to maintain flight. Because it had just taken off for a long flight it was actually to heavy to land immediately because it was fuel heavy. The captain made the correct choice to fly a holding pattern while he and his crew stabilised the aircraft, went through and checked all their systems and made preparations for the emergency landing. The Captain is awesome because the holding pattern he deliberately chose, was close enough to the runway that he had chosen to return too and land. If things had of quickly deteriorated and he had a complete loss of power, he was close enough to that runway that he would have been able to glide the A380 to the runway without engine power. Hope this helps you.
