I was birding at Pea Island, NC in November, 2023. A flock of (well known locally) flamingoes that arrived that summer were still there.

I read " Death in the Everglades" (The Murder of Guy Bradley) by Stewert B McIver. I was sitting in the doctors office when I was reading about plume hunters going after the flamingos. I started crying and the doctor was so concerned about me crying. When I told them why I was crying they thought I was crazy. I cried through that whole book.

I saw a flamingo in a pond at the Florida turnpike north entrance in Saint Cloud Florida in early August 2023. I couldn’t believe my eyes!

I remember seeing a flock of about a dozen flamingos in Lake Inghram inside Cape Sable on Easter morning around 1958.

There were some Flamingos in Wisconsin last month .I live in Michigan. The birds were spotted on one of the Beaches there.The wind from the hurricane got them off track and the ended up there people were crowded around the beach to see them The Great lakes look like Oceans so I assume they were tired and looking for food.The Nature Center said they could probably stay as long as they had enough food .There are minnows theres small shell fish claims and snails.I hope there is enough for them???

I read about the flamingos spotted way up there in Wisconsin in the news.

They eat algae, small seeds, tiny crustaceans (like brine shrimp), fly larvae, and other plants and animals that live in shallow waters. When it's time to eat, a flamingo will place its head upside down in the water with its bill pointed at its feet.
