I like how they used ATP's footage to display their airplane.

Didn’t know Piper made a video about the Seminole using the Seminole that’s in my flight school right now!

The Seminole is an excellent trainer. Great aircraft for beginners. The t tail has a disadvantage: the elevator is less effective at slower airspeeds, therefore more backpressure is needed to hold altitude. Pilots must also be aware that at higher temperatures and density altitudes, this aircraft has no climb performance on a single engine. In some cases, the aircraft's single engine ceilings are lower than the airport elevation. This means that if an engine failure occurs, you will have to land. No choice on this one. You will not have the performance capabilities to continue a takeoff or a cross country. Under these circumstances, I would not recommend this aircraft for mountain cross country flying.

What twin engine aircraft would you recommend for cross country flying?

Nickoli Lion If you take quite a bit of stops, sure. I've done it. (For the Seminole)

Hello? It is very rare for engine failure to occour.
@coriscotupi6 жыл бұрын
Nonsense. These airplanes are engineered with ample safety margins. In the rare event of an engine failure, the airplane is perfectly capable of flying on the remaining engine in complete safety all the way to the site of the accident.

Super nice plane, I’m going to get the older cheap version in like 10 or 20 years

This looks an awful lot like a shortened Seneca with smaller engines, a T-tail and tapered wings. This could probably be called a *"Twin Archer with an Arrow's T-tail".* Looks like Piper likes to mix&match wings, fuselages and tails in their parts inventory to keep dishing out more airplane models. And they all look pretty cool, too.

It is a direct development of the Archer so....

The Shrike Commander shits all over the Seminole in every way possible. This has two grossly underpowered engines. Not good when you have a plane full of PAX and luggage, especially at high altitude and on a hot day. Would barely lift off the ground. I like the counter rotating propellors, and thats all

Well, as a trainer, it is simple and robust, but if you were going to haul the hole family or hunting party away for a trek, then step up to t higher rated (more fuel hungry) performance machine... horses for courses?

I have owned three shrikes and a 500B. My current Shrike has been fitted with 345 HP engines as against the good and reliable 295 HP Motors. Blade are three bladed "paddle pop" blades that give more bite= shorter take off runs and 2000 ft per minute rate of climb .Shits all over other fuel injected twins. Makes for a great IFS platform as well and a great stable plane to fly. Mine is here in Australia.

Well, you can always find someone that shits on someone else. That is never a sign of good manners. Aside from that I would add that and a Twin Commander 1000 shits on all other Commanders. Every plane flying has its purpose. It is all a matter of requirements and money.
