@elwinowen54693 жыл бұрын
@@LuisAldamiz Nuclear is among the least environmentally destructive energy sources (better than solar at the very least). Building solar panels require certain rare metals and involve industrial processes that are extremely polluting. The dangers from nuclear energy are overblown and can be solved through safer designs (such as exist in Canada), and the storage issue is minor since the volume of waste produced is little and the strongest radioactive elements decay after a few years. In short, we need to use any way we can to lower carbon emissions. Green activists in many countries have led to nuclear power being replaced with coal or natural gas, which kill several orders of magnitude more people per energy produced than nuclear, and produce tons of carbon emissions while nuclear produces none.
@linusholmstrom8763 жыл бұрын
@@LuisAldamiz As far as I understand it and please anyone who knows better correct me, it is not that we can't create enough energy with renewables it is that most of them are unstable sources. The power grid needs to be more or less perfectly balanced at all times, ie the same amount of energy that is produced has to be consumed. If there is too much energy in the grid stuff breaks, too little the lights go out. the trouble with wind and solar is that the amount of energy produced changes a lot and that change is be hard to predict. So something that is reliable and easily controllable is needed to supplement wind and solar. The only two energy sources that fulfill that requirement and are carbon neutral, are hydro and nuclear. And sadly there is far too little hydro, or its way too disruptive to the local eco system. So the only viable technology that is available NOW to make our energy production carbon neutral is nuclear. All the other options, like fusion and better battery technology are decades out.

This is great! The issue of copyright is often overlooked, but it actually has a huge effect on our creation of art. Huge media corporations control the most culturally relevant pieces of media and instead of allowing us to create huge corroborative pieces of art we end up with the same media being repackaged and sold to us again and again in order to conserve the copyright. Sometimes companies will buy licensing rights to media and then bury it making it impossible to produce anything regarding the piece, effectively killing it. It just allows for the further consolidation of entertainment mega corps (of which Disney is the worst) allowing them to propagate their own propaganda in huge volumes with consumers unable to ignore it.

As a Czech Young voter, I can say there is a lot of information missing about Czech Pirate Party (CPP). Their decline was caused by varios scandals regarding their members promoting censorship on internet, enormous taxation on wealthy people (new 23% tax), solving housing crisis by limiting living space to 30m2 per person and taxating anything above it and many others. CPP has shifted to the left and are no longer a center party, but left to far-left party. In Czech Republic by some newspapers they have been named as the communists of internet era. Quite a dangerous party.

A few years ago, Germany´s Pirate Party had quite some success, but after a while fell apart, as a basically protest and anarchist party encountered real problems when it came to the daily grind of political work, developing party positions and keeping party factions from attacking each other over all kinds of issues and positions.
@janaussiger41113 жыл бұрын
Well as I wrote somewhere else in this comment section, the other parties have similar if not greater inner struggles. But those happen outside of the public scrutiny. A lot of commentators had even said it outright in 2012-2015 that the Pirate problem isn't the struggles, but the fact that they happen publicly. The other side of that coin is that the "standard" parties make decisions for internal reason but the public doesn't know why. There is no logical reason for people like Anja Karliczek or Andy Scheuer to be ministers of anything but their assignments are part of careful balancing inside the CDU/CSU. That's good for the party and its image, but pretty horrific for the actual functioning of the state. But it its what the german voter prefers. Just look at how everyone was stoked on Annalena Baerbock even though there was 0 transparency in her Spitzenkandidatin assignment as opposed to the CDU/CSU.

Nicely explained (y), thanks! A wee insight from a Czech voter: it'd seem the main reason for the sudden and steady decline in the popularity of the PIRSTAN (Pirates & Mayors/independents) coalition is the mudslinging by the ANO party, further reinforced by President as well as other parties, namely SPD (right-wing extreme) who spread downright lies that people just buy. The reason behind the rise of the Pirates seen back in 2017 was that they'd set on a mission to fight corruption that plagues the country. The short promotional clip we've seen in this video shows a bus with pictures of different politicians known for their corruption affairs, with Babis being the most visible one as he's been accused of being in a conflict of interest (and has been investigated by EU's OLAF).

Weve already done something like that in Canada. Pirating music and movies is legal, provided you don't in any way monetize it, as its considered equivalent to recording the radio or TV. If you monetize it, like say a YT video, even if YOU dont get the money, its monetized and you are in trouble. But, if its just goes on your device for your own listening or viewing, its legal here, as its equivalent to it being on the radio. Mabee you should approach it like that.

Ok but what if you managed to pirate something and add or remove something to make it different? The issue isnt just straight up piracy, the issue lies in what you can do with the content. Many would argue that creating some sort of remix from your audio recordings from a radio is enough to warrant you your own patent to that thing since you took old stuff and made something new. Yet law wont allow that for most of the cases because patent holders argue that thats making profit off of their content. THAT is the real issue. What is, from my perspective as a czech citizen, most appealing about the Pirate party in the Czech repubilc is their transparency and the amount of young enthusiastic people unspoiled by the politics of 90s, which were quite crazy and it was easy to get "dirty" back then. Other parties have been linked to scandals and are still until today backed by some shady people pushing their interests. Pirates do not carry this burden.
