The 49ers who won it all in 94 had injuries (in particular losing Steve Young for five games), and without that, they are likely the one seed and Dallas could’ve had to win in San Francisco in a year where they lost really badly to them at home with Elvis Grbac. The Niners lost to the Packers, but they could’ve dodged them if they were the one seed. So Super Bowl 30 could’ve been 49ers-Steelers, or with the actual matchup gone the other way with a better quarterback for Pittsburgh.

The 1 that hurt me was Super Bowl 30. Either O'Donnell blew it, because he threw those 2 int nowhere near a Steeler receiver, or the receivers ran a wrong route. The2nd was the 2001 AFC Championship game. The Steelers simply gave that game to the Pats. Sick to see.

Mike Tomlin kept making the mistake with Ben Roethlisberger his entire time he played for him. He kept sitting him in week 17 before playoff games, when everybody knew that was Ben's biggest problem was long layoffs. In 2017 they had a bye week, and he still sat him in week 17, which would made it 3 weeks between games.

I can hardly call some of these games chokes. The 2021 and 2023 teams were bad teams that did not deserve to make the playoffs and got what they deserved in the Wild Card round. Everybody knew that the 2016 team wasn't going to beat far superior New England. The 2015 team went up against a historically great defense without Antonio Brown and still had the lead deep in the fourth quarter. Yes, some of these games were chokes, but the saying "they choked" is used WAY too liberally nowadays. There is such thing as being defeated by a team that's simply better.

@walterhervas8064 I don't think all the titles should count. But green bay won 3 championships with the same core of players as the 2 superbowls. If where going all the way back to the 70s then we can count the 60s too.

Are these chokes? Or just losses? Granted, many of these are horrible chokes. But a handful of these are the steelers being underdogs and losing as underdogs or as equals and losing as equals
