His qbr and touchdown/ interception ratio last season were better than QBs of the likes of Pat Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. I think he’ll do fine this year with actual receivers and a good offensive schematic with Arthur Smith

@@georgehenderson476 actually it does fix the QB situation. Go back and Google what the broncos gave up to trade for Wilson cause it definitely was a lot. The thing with Fields is he has more potential than Wilson and Wilson has won a super bowl. The Steelers do not have a QB problem

This is a bit of an overreaction. “The locker room is on the edge and disaster could be lurking around the corner…” Russ is going to be the starter. Justin is going to be the backup for a year. If it doesn’t go well for Russ, they’ll see what they have in Justin. If the Steelers like either of the two QBs they’ll either work out a deal or slap a franchise tag on one of them. I’m guessing Fields will hit the free agent market next offseason, and could very well find a place where he’ll have an opportunity to compete for the starting job. Just not that big of a deal.

There is no qb issue here. Either RW will succeed or Fields will get his chance. One or both should be able carry the team thru the 26 season. Having both these guys on the cheap allows them to address other needs in the draft. If they don’t pan out then start the qb you drafted/signed after 25/26 season.

as a Bears fan, i love Justin Fields.. i was very saddened when i heard he was traded to the Steelers... now in addition to the Bears, i'm also a fan of the Steelers because of Fields ... i wish Fields nothing but the best, and i hope to see a Bears vs Steelers Super Bowl ... and in that Super Bowl may the best team win... If this guy would have watched Wilson play last year instead of cherry-picking stats he would know he was not productive and did not play well. Now Pitt has two quarterbacks who do not read the middle of the field well, bail on the play early, hold the ball and take sacks, throw short after passing up the open man in the structure of the offense, etc., etc. Wilson used to get away with this because he was an exceptional athlete with a great run game which he could boot and look and he does have a good deep ball when he's out, he had very good wideouts and they had good to great defenses. Fields might be able to grow out of that, but Wilson is Wilson. All that said, the Steelers now have two quarterbacks that are better than last year's starters and didn't lose much talent in FA. Saying a "HUGE" problem is just clickbait. They got both of these guys cheap, both moneywise and draft pick-wise. Tomlin has enough experience to handle this easily. If they draft well they will be fine. If Cincy or the B-more stumble at all, they will be right there.

Wilson is not what he was but is still better then Pickett. Fields needs to learn how to read a defense and throw a better ball at time he is inaccurate. Wilson will play this year. The steelers should still look at quarterbacks in the draft like they are with Penix. They got both quarterbacks dirt cheap so its a free pass to take a look at them.

Pittsburg does not have a huge quarterback problem. They have two very good quarterbacks. What is wrong with that ? The Arizona Cardinals would have loved to have two good quarterbacks. They had a quarterback get injured without a good replacement . They lost a lot of games and had a terrible year. I expect that having two good quarterbacks available will be the way of the future. Cincinnati's star went down at the end of the season. So went their playoff hopes.

The Steelers are in an advantageous position. That’s why the league and media are trying to START a controversy. They don’t want the Steelers threatening the Chiefs. There’s no controversy, and the locker room is great. Everybody around the Steelers is happy. I say Fields becomes a Swiss Army knife who lines up at WR, RB, and QB. His best position for his career is WR/QB2 or WR/QB3. He may even return punts and kicks. Starting QB? Nah! He just doesn’t have the arm talent to be a franchise QB. Tbh, I wouldn’t have Lamar at QB either.

Russell is the better QB, his body of work proves that out. He's taken multiple teams to the SB, won 1 and they should have actually won 2. Fields body of work is not good, but he has potential. Potential means jack snot, you have to prove you have it, maybe competing with Russel for a few years, watching and learning from the Veteran will be enough to move him to the next level, much like Green Bay's QB's over the years.

Fields’s floor is way lower than Russ’s. Russ’s floor is the average of his two Denver performances, which is skewed downward by that disastrous 2022 year. That average would be: 3,250 yards 21 TDs 9 INTs 64.5% Complete 96 Passer Rating 290 Rushing Yards In his two Denver years, he only played in 30/34 games That’s Russ’s FLOOR! Matthew Stafford barely has better than a 2:1 TD-INT ratio for his career, and people still call him one of the best! Tom Brady’s career passer rating is about 97 or 98, and many consider him to be the GOAT. Cam Newton won an MVP with a completion% that was lower than Russ’s 2022 completion% of 63%! Russ rushed for 350 yards in 15 games after being benched for financial reasons in 2023. If he had played in all 17 games, he would’ve approached 400 yards. Yes, Fields rushes for 250% of that, but his rushing prowess to compensate for his deficient passing. Russ’s floor should tell people how amazing he is because Denver was a dumpster fire in BOTH years, especially with Hackett, all the injuries, and Sean Payton trying to tank. Btw, The Broncos kept Russ as the starter because he was their best option.

Russ never asked for Pete to be fired, but if he did, I wouldn’t have blamed him. Pete should have been fired years ago. Russ was at Pete’s retirement party, which was held at Legion, a restaurant owned by Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor, and both were among many former Wilson teammates in attendance. What has Fields done in his first 3 years? By this time in Wilson’s career he already had a Super Bowl. Wilson is not as good as he was at his peak but Fields will never have anything close to the career that Wilson has had. The only controvery is made up by the media.
