One of things I found out when using mine is that my right hand was not solidly on the club so I wasn't able resist the tension on the band in the back swing well. Now that my right hand is solidly on the club I have way more control and can crush the ball.

Eric, loved your video about the downswing where you showed the pros and pointed out that the club head goes behind them (shallows) and away from the target. Would the tension in the band inhibit the 'away from' move when using the Planemate? I'm wondering if you feel a change in tension when doing this. Recovering from a knee replacement so haven't been able to use mine yet. Thanks for the videos.

Eric- i have a question regarding this. How important is backswing position regarding this, or is it just a downswing thing? For example- my swing i tend to have too much forearm rotation on the backswing-as a result the shaft plane is well outside the ball. On the downswing it appears i have “steepened” the shaft but my shaft plane is st or slighly outside the ball. Should i just work on the backswing portion of this- and will that make much if a difference? Thanks
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Landon! 1. So the backswing for sure matters. At various degrees depending on what you do and how severe. 2. 99% of people who go back flat at you mention will come down steeper......because you have too as reaction. 3. its OK if you come down steeper IF you went back flatter SO LONG as that steeper downswing is still "on plane" like a Rickie. 4. The more vertical the shaft on the backswing the better the odds of shallow.....not guarantee but best odds. 5. If you want to change that steepening downswing move (for whatever reason you decide) I would most certainly make the backswing more vertical I would do it with these: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIOyfHSCh5arqLc kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmjGqqGngsxngNk

Hey Eric. I'm going to assume that in addition to improving the shallowing on the downswing, the Planemate would also help improve impact position and rotation through the ball? Specifically, the dreaded early release/flip? Thanks!

One of my big “issues” in my golf swing is crossing the line at the top of my swing! Would the Planemate help cure this problem? Thanks.
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Definitely could... Depends on WHY you are crossing the line... Could be your wrist angles, could be trail shoulder too internally rotated, could be too much body rotation, etc This drill with stick on club and point it outside ball line should help....you need to use video and do this consistently and slowly for 3-6 months and it will fix kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXPNcnuEbtOoaKM kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ21p3hrqZp6gpI

@CogornoGolf 4 жыл бұрын
I mean ideally reps with the planemate.....do you have one?
@shrimboy7492
@shrimboy7492 3 жыл бұрын
The relax part is simply allowing the club head to drop behind u. Feels like the entire club is horizontal to the ground. The key is to keep the club head point straight in the opposite direction behind u. But the front shoulder should be lower to the ground then lift it upward to initiate the rotation.

Still struggling a little with the driver. My swing is now deep and much steeper. the longer club is more difficult to shallow. any suggestions?
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jon! Good to hear of the improvement with the irons....as for the driver....definitely have suggestions....but the reality is there are too many possible causes. Could be multiple reasons that are setup, backswing or transition related. Could be body stuff or club stuff....I would need to see a video of your swing to say for sure without making too many guesses. I ordered the PlaneMate, the purchase was withdrawn from my account and when I did not receive the package, it contacted Tour Striker. They then said that I had be shipped and could not be delivered. I then contacted UPS to find out what happen, and because I live in a apartment they could not deliver it. UPS contacted Tour Striker/Amazon and asked for my contact information, e-mail, phone number and did not receive a response from Tour Striker. Tour Striker says that did not receive any request from UPS and wants me to pay another shipping fee, for them to re-ship the package. I guess that it I my fault for living in an apartment, and UPS not being able to leave the package at my door, since Tour Striker did not inform them of my email or phone number which I gave them when ordering the PlaneMate. I guess you should not buy the PlaneMate or any produkt from Tour Striker if you live in an apartment?

Late to this video, but why couldn’t you just take the club up on this shallower plane and bring it back down the same way? Seems unnecessarily complicated to have to shallow a swing properly with good timing
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf Жыл бұрын
You can... A lot of times when you go shallow back the club gets heavy....and your brain responds by steepening on way down to lighten it
@tensebeastgaming8527
@tensebeastgaming8527 Жыл бұрын
@@CogornoGolf that makes sense intuitively, but then why doesn't the brain want to retain that steeper path on the downswing if it wants to keep the club 'light'? I'd likely guess because if you retained the steeper path you'd almost miss the ball entirely, meaning you are relying on timing, body awareness, and some level of athleticism in order to find the proper plane on the way down. You can certainly make a longer motion going steeper on the backswing (speed) but it forces timing on the downswing. I'd argue neither motion is particularly intuitive and may come down more to player preference. I'd always naturally had a shallow backswing with my arm directly perpendicular to my spine. Had many pros try to get me steeper on the backswing only to realize later that my key to consistency was to stop fighting my natural motion. Thanks for the comment and maybe you can provide another insight I may be missing!? Cheers

Teaching people to MAKE this move happen with their hands is simply WRONG ... the natural shallow happens when a golfer gets his hips away earlier and quicker than the average golfer who starts with his hands more often on the same track as in the back swing. Scary how many golfers are getting worse at the game trying to manipulate their hands at the top or wrists when there is no need for it. Get the body out of the way WHILE finishing ur back swing and the shallow part will happen naturally!!!!
