Really good job of breaking down a complicated move. What I like about Milo's action is how he extends his whole right side at the top. Creates the centered Pivot and makes it natural to 'fall' on his left side and keep lead shldr low. From there, the tricky move is right sidebend 'crunch' to re-center. I've found that if I don't get the Rt side extension at top, the things that follow don't happen as naturally. You guys did a great jobexplaining--thanks!

Eric, I just tried this today. Your "right shoulder closer to right hip" "feel" is excellent. It's the best swing thought to help find the slot. I suffer from early extension, and keeping the rt side bend helps a ton. I'm still hooking it a bit, but the compression is so much more consistent. Thank you. So often, instructors tell you to "find the slot" or "get the rt elbow closer to the hip". But your'e the first give me a "feel" of how to actually do it consistently.

This video, and the others in this series with Milo are some of your best work! It really helps bring home some of George Gankas teachings, but in a more thorough and detailed video. No knock on George! It's just hard to get this kind of in depth explanation of the external rotation of the lead leg, side bends, etc, because his videos are just presented from a lesson he is giving to a student. With this video, and the others with Milo, I am hitting some of my best shots! Keep up the great work Eric and Milo!!!!

Eric, it is crazy to think what exactly happens during the swing, downswing especially, in such a short period of time. The only way I learn this stuff initially is to go really slow as far as the quickness of the swing and living by the saying slow and steady wins the race. The info in these videos is pure gold(makes my head spin, but good nonetheless).

I have been working on this downswing motion now for almost 3 months. I don't think anyone should expect to be able to do it quickly. For all those sliders of the pelvis (me included) that get stuck on the downswing and the hips stop rotating coming into impact, it is a very different move and it will take time for your body to adjust to it. Coming into impact with a short right arm is something my body has never been familiar with and I am now finally learning how to swing the club like it should be swung. Instead of sliding my pelvis, I am learning to get comfortable with first putting pressure on my left side (while regaining forward bend) then rotating immediately with no slide. I don't slide anymore and I see a different ball flight now.

Jumping ahead a bit, I assume the upper body starts actively rotating shortly after transition. I know you want the body as open as possible at impact. I saw a video the other day suggesting that having open shoulders will lead to toe shots. I do have that tendency particularly with the shorter clubs. Your thoughts coach? Thanks as always.

Great video Eric. I am a low handicap player but suffer inconsistencies with leaning toward the target at times with my upper body on downswing. Wen Bray watch our previous videos there are a few ideas there. I would recommend a little work with a good coach that can help you match up the movements. I know a couple 😉
@CogornoGolf4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Wen! Yeah agreed with Milo above... 1. You need to learn to right side bent with left hip and shoulder staying lower. Thats really the key. The thing you are trying to do is correct (right side bend) you just need to learn to keep lead side lower. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oH-ZZYOdjM2Wl5o kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIvEfKmiaq-jhc0 (do the stick thorugh the belt in this drill...make the stick hit the other stick as low as possible. Hey Alban! Just want to clarify... Are you saying that your head is moving AWAY from the target during the DOWNSWING?
@BanbanGB4 жыл бұрын
Eric Cogorno Golf hi Eric , no this is during the backswing , I do have a bit of rotation but this is normal. My concern is during the backswing I have a small lateral deviation to the right. So 70 % of the case my head come back at the same position at the impact but some time it doesn’t. I work with some friends and coach to help me with this ( by having someone holding my head or just having a contact on my left side of my head ) who does help a lot but when I am by myself I can’t so I was wondering if you have any idea ? I hope it was clear enough xD thank you Eric

Great video as always. One question - when I try to squat and rotate, my arms comes to impact way to fast and my legs are still bent when I hit the ball (I don’t get the time needed to push my left leg into the ground). The result is therefore a very handsy release when I try this. Has anyone experienced the same or know what I can do to get the time needed to squat, rotate and push my left leg?

When Milo gets to top of backswing his upper body looks to be leaned more forward towards the target than his lower body. I’ve always been afraid to make this move because i was under the impression it’s a “reverse pivot.” What is the difference between this (upper body forward passed lower) and the dreaded reverse pivot?
@CogornoGolf4 жыл бұрын
Hey Gary! What is the difference between this (upper body forward passed lower) and the dreaded reverse pivot? 1. How much you do it 2. What you do from there to start down IF you stay centered with your pivot to start down and add right side bend to avoid going too far forward then you are OK. People who get in trouble from there from the top KEEP leaning toward target too much to start down so upper center gets too far ahead. Good lower body action to keep pelvis centered and enough right side bend are the answers to start downswing from there.

Lot going on in this video, maybe too much. Is belt buckle and chest down another way to think about maintaining spine angle, or are we literally trying to get even closer to the ground? If the latter, how does that happen...knee bend or spine tilt? Part 1 hard to follow. Part 2 re right side bend is super helpful though. When I tried right side bend it felt good, when I tried coming down without right side bend...classic OTT.

Aart you can look at the normal swing in slow motion by stopping the video then using the keyboard keys COMMA and PERIOD. COMMA makes the frames go backwards and PERIOD makes the frames go forward frame by frame. Each touch of PERIOD moves the video forward frame by frame. I use it to look at and analyze swings in KZbin all the time, including Eric's swing.
