At the three minute or so mark that pretty pink Orchid that's blooming has such wonderful Roots growing everywhere! Very impressive especially since it's blooming and growing new Roots at the same time

i am all for people growing orchids in the best way that suits their own environment..forget what a book says or experts say...if it works for you then it is the best way for you. i am surprised how well your Catasetums grow for you..if i watered the one that rotted through the winter it would rot in my greenhouse..perhaps your dry environment lends to your Catts being watered..i love those sequential blooming Paphs that are "mini" in stature...i have a couple on my list to buy at some point.anyway everything looks great. thanks for sharing

Hey, another Canadian orchid grower...recognize your Ten Shin Orchids. Just subscribed to your channel. Lovely Phrag Dick Clements! You really like phals. Where on earth did you find a Mimi Palmer? That would be one on my wish list though not sure if I can provide it with enough light esp in winter even though I have a SW window and some supplemental lighting. I'm so with you about the catasetum types. Great theory on their growth...why not try something different. Nice paphs "Pinocchios". Glad you're doing well with your tessellata...I lost mine :( Oh and I'm also out of control in spring when it comes to orchids but I tend to stop after May because most of my fall purchases don't seem to do as well.

Thanks Res! Yeah many of my plants are from Ten Shin. They're great for getting things I cannot find in canada. I'm a big fan of novelty phals that are fragrant and vibrant. Plus, phals in general tend to bloom multiple times per year, and that makes the effort of caring for them more worth it. When I started with orchids about 9 years ago I always had a room full of green plants and very few flowers because each one was seasonally flowering. Now that I have a good distribution of seasonal flowerers and phals, at any given time my place looks like I know what I'm doing! Flowers everywhere (except for in November when nothing seems to bloom) haha. With tessellata the key is very bright light, and high air flow around the roots. In Canada our winters lend us short days but (at least here in calgary) the days are still pretty bright. My vandas get full south exposure all year, so that helps keep them going. The mimi palmer I got was from Orchids in Our Tropics--can't say for sure if they still have them available, but give them a shot and let them know Dustin sent you :)

Hey, love the vids, I’m your provincial next door neighbour over here in BC. I’m also a plant monster, I can’t go to a garden centre without buying something. My house also looks like my very own garden centre. Where did you manage to find miracle berry and soursop seeds? Would love to have these in my collection. I look forward to more vids from you!

Hi SaraChantell! Love BC!! Sooo...I got the seeds from...a public garden in Calgary...oops 🙀 In 5 years when mine finally start making fruit, I’ll send you some 🤣 - srsly though, I’ll keep an eye out for seeds and let you know if I can find some. Thanks for watching!

Its the crazy dark wintery weather, I've been making appointments with the local orchid nurseries, btw your face did not come out red thru the video, you may want to look into green moisturizer/primer to cut down the redness (look only, not a cure) :0)
@Catnip20116 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify: "green" is actually the colour of the moisturizer/primer, the product actually appears green, it works on the colour neutralizing principle. btw, have you check into growlight.ca ? especially on their T5 led (tube) light that does not appear purple.
