There bros, individually and collectively, are so gifted. The blend of their distinctively Platt sound is captivating. While Ben and Jonah have the "celebrity," Henry has a purity to his voice that could melt the polar cap (don't sing in Alaska, Henry)! As a gentile and a Christian, I especially love the way they use their gift to honor their religious heritage. Blessings on you, gentlemen!

When Jews pray we sway. If we’re aware of it or not, we sway. Our whole body is in sync with our soul in that moment, and connected to Gd, so our body dances with peace and joy.

Also Hebrew is the language of this beautiful world, the soul, our Creator built the world with these words and spiritual world. This teaches us we all build our worlds with speech and thought. So when Jewish people talk or sing it, it’s the deepest of the deep, and the highest.

My sister chose to sing, "His Eye is On The Sparrow" for our Dad's homegoing service. I didn't know people could hear me & I sang harmony. The family thought it was planned & my sister was mad because I guess I intruded on her performance. When our mother passed, she asked me to sing it by myself, which I did. It was my Daddy's favorite gospel song.

My father's side of our family is Jewish, but growing up my mother would not allow us to celebrate any aspect of this piece of our identity. I went to one of my students Bar Mitzvah and cried and cried through the whole thing. I was so moved, but I'm not a crier usually. My friend said it was because I recognized the music of my people. When I wanted to explore this more for myself and my children, my husband said he preferred to keep religion out of our lives. I'm not mad. But listening to this music heals a little part of me. Thank you for your music.

I hope you feel able to pursue your own spiritual path in whatever way matters to you. I believe that while spirituality is an intrinsic part of existence, and religion is how that spirituality is expressed in our lives. It can be in small private rituals and deeds or as part of organized groups, but in the end it connects back to something deeply personal and private. You are a part of the Jewish people and are entitled to your connection to that global family.
