there will NEVER be another time in history like that of the 50s and 60s when the music was beautiful and there was true love in the air, and i will miss those beautiful days. regrettfully, the kids of today will NEVER know those days gone by either or the music or the LOVE. i dont mean the sex, I mean the LOVE.

NOTHING QUITE LIKE THE "PLATTERS," BEFORE OR SINCE. NEVER WAS THERE A PERIOD IN THE DAYS OF A.M. RADIO WHEN FOR YEARS YOU COULD NOT TURN ON THE RADIO AND TUNE UP AND DOWN THE DIAL AND NOT HEAR ONE OF THEIR IMMORTAL RECORDINGS WITHIN A FEW MINUTES... SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES, TWILIGHT TIME, HARBOR LIGHTS, I'M SORRY, THE GREAT PRETENDER, ONLY YOU, IT'S MAGIC, MY PRAYER, THE MAGIC TOUCH, REMEMBER WHEN, ENCHANTED, MY DREAM, HEAVEN ON EARTH, IF I DIDN'T CARE, SLEEPY LAGOON, TO EACH HIS OWN, AND ON AND ON AND ON. IT WAS A GLORIOUS TIME TO BE ALIVE.🌠😃🌠

grew up in 50s and 60s and was a kid when this was popular...my dad had a restaurant and let the teens dance there.....my sisters, who were older loved to dance and listen to the platters, and i grew to love them too....in our white country ozarks world, there were no black people and i believe this group did more for changing racial views than any governemntal laws or actions ever did....i went on to the military in mid 60s and a lot of my black buddies were shocked and surprised that i knew all the words to all the songs that, not only the platters sang, but almost all other am groups sang even as far back as the 40s.

those days are treasure, but we have to awaken and inspire that loving spirit. Let's no forget that these guys were singing their hearts out in a very terrible segregated society. I have so much respect for the black people of those generations that even under a brutal mistreatment were still able to go and sing in a white people's club. Did you notice there was no a single black couple in the audience? this was a movie of course, but they didn't try to be politically correct period. Peace.

You're so right-- I always notice the absence of black faces in those clips from the" fabulous 50's". The music was fabulous--the brutality of racism was horrible, and those folks should be respected and admired. My mom graduated from HS in 1958--one of 12 blacks in a graduating class of 137--and she said the music (and sports) did break down a lot of barriers. The Platters were great though-- I really enjoy their music

I appreciate your sentiment but studies have shown that people often forget the negative aspects of their experiences over time and exaggerate the positive ones. The 50's and 60's had the good with the bad, the love and the hate, but the good is good to remember. :)
