This is way too funny! I love that you acknowledged the crew in the curtain call. A play like this needs for absolutely everything to be perfect (ironically, lol), so that crew works HARD. Very well done to all of you!

absolutly, the crew was critical and they were sooooo good in this production. Thats my favorite part of community theatre, the people.

I'm not going to say this was as clean and polished as the London cast, but they've had hundreds of shows to practice and a much bigger stage & budget. However I though this rendition was amazingly well done. The set was wonderfully recreated, and broke perfectly. The actors done a fantastic job throughout, especially Matthew Desind who pulled off Max Bennett's well despite the park obviously not being made for him as an actor. If you where my local theatre trip I'd go to the theatre much more often! Thank you for uploading this
@2ndcornets18 күн бұрын
Glad that this has made it as a comedy in its own right. Audiences could have seen the real thing when I did a season of summer repertory in the 1960's: sets that fell apart, actors that didn't know their lines, doors that jammed, guns that didn't go off, ASMs reading from a book as they covered for an absent cast member. Occasionally we would get folks at the stage door asking who the murderer was, because the scripts were so awful.

Hilarious! quick question if you don't mind, how different is this to the professional show?
@reallyjustbenАй бұрын
Script wise, it is pretty close to the same. There are some sections of improv. Budget wise, its a world of difference. This production was done by a community theatre group in southern idaho. We were very fortunate to have a great deal of support and donations (espcially the construction of the set and the dropping platform). I'm hesitant to say professional actors would be much different (execpt for that lump who plays Thomas Collimore, a grizzly in a tutu would have been better).

Booklet see another production by the PTGW team in Manchester at Opera house. Found the BBC productions hilarious, proper slapstick.. brilliant I thought... very disappointed to see none of the original cast in the play. None of this was mentioned and a picture of the original cast was advertised on Bill boards and programmed. What we watched was very good and funny but it was a clear attempt of the cast to copy the originals

How did you get the rights to put this show on? Is this not severe copyright infringement?
@reallyjustben2 ай бұрын
You can license the rights from the publishing company. Literaly hundreds of community theaters and other non professional groups do it every year.
@okmarshallАй бұрын
@@reallyjustben Wow, that is highly unusual for a show that is still being performed professionally around the world. Good to know!
@reallyjustbenАй бұрын
@@okmarshall From what I have found, performance restrictions are generally only put in place if there are national touring companies doing the show. Right now there is a show on Broadway. Dramatists Play service handles the licensing: www.dramatists.com/cgi-bin/db/single.asp?key=5523 I'm sure it would be a different story if it were put on by a for-profit or regional professional group. But I know of 5 other community theatre groups that have put it on just in southern Idaho over the last 5-6 years.
