These are so unbelievably organic. The film community will never recover from the loss of Mr. Bogdanovich. ❤️ R.I.P.

absolutely loved hearing these icons "just talking" just having drinks with Duke, it was great, and important, I'd go so far as to say priceless. We'll never have stars like these three again. Never.

@@lynnturman8157 hearing this podcast on my phone is odd because it feels like Hank Fonda, Duke Wayne and Jimmy Stewart are on the phone! The casual profanities make it seem even more intimate...

John Wayne. Nobody had what he had. Mitchum perhaps comes closest.

John Wayne was great at playing himself. He had no range, unlike Fonda or Jimmy Stewart who could play anything. Fonda was exceptional. Just watch Once Upon a Time in the West. He plays the villain and he’s phenomenal.

@@jasoncharles9481 Who needs range when you're John Wayne? Not that he wasn't able to do different things (watch the difference between Red River, She wore a yellow Ribbon and the Searchers for instance) but nobody commanded the screen like he did, being in essence the same. I think versatility in actors is overrated. Go get any random English Stage actor and you'll find all the range you could ask for. Boring. I also love Stewart and Fonda though. But none of them could play John Wayne.

@@ojacobsen3727 Well I agree with you about his presence. He was huge and a great movie star. He was also great in lots of films. But he was always the same character, basically. He also had no interest in playing characters that were anything less than leaders, powerful, or heroic. To me, Henry Fonda was a hundred times the actor that John Wayne was, and he was never boring. That being said, nobody could replace Wayne for that character he played.

@@ojacobsen3727 I'm not disagreeing with you about Wayne. I'm just saying he wasn't a fraction of the actor that Fonda was or even several of his contemporaries. But yeah, he was the best at playing John Wayne, and that was a highly profitable character for the movie studios.

John Wayne’s segment is pretty boring in this. Fast forward...
