Thank you for your dedication to analyzing the MV and song FRI(END)S. I think like you. When Tae said that the song FRIENDS was originally supposed to be on the Layover album but in the end he wanted to release it as a separate song because he didn't want us to listen to the entire song at once so we can assume that the song is related to his story and it's safe to analyze it. Of course, if you've been following the relationship between Tae and JK all along, for me there isn't much to say, it's SO OBVIOUS and like we were so lucky to get to know their story. The song FRIENDS is a song about the end of their relationship between friends and becoming lovers. Tae also spoke further in the behind-the-scenes of the music video about the meaning of the song, saying that he doesn't want to be just friends with that person anymore through actions and words. If notice the lyrics, they've been more than friends for a while, so the song hints at a serious status change. So say yes and move on to a romantic relationship. If you put this song into layover album, it's clear that they as a 'couple' are still going on. I mean, come on, it's clearly them! As for the question of what does it say about someone special? Tae replied that we are far apart now. Let's be strong, happy, and come back and do our best concerts, he was looking forward to that day. At first I thought he was talking about the members because this wasn't the first time he'd said that. The Korean word is 특별한 누군가, which literally means "someone special" (Question with the letter S). So I thought again about Tae's message, whether he was referring to his lover or not. Which is possible because this message can also be a message to JK. I like how you brought up Kim Taehyung and V's identities from the interview. This is the part that I’m aware of as well as excited about FRIENDS mv. I like this solo era because this is an opportunity for me to get to know Tae deeper. This reinforced the impression I had of him. Tae is a person who wouldn't trade anything for his freedom and has no regrets about his actions. He has such a sexy brain and respectful. As for the MV, I didn't understand its meaning and simply concluded to myself, 'He's so handsome, I don't want to be FRIENDS with him either😆' Lastly, I thought I was at an age where I didn't have interest in mv views or streams because for me, listening to music is natural and relaxing. But you know what, part of me calls out for Tae. Like let's👏try👏doing👏it👏for👏him👏 once👏 and I don't want to regret not doing it. I stream his songs and MVs every day. Every time the numbers increased, I was happy and wanted to continue doing it. Sometimes I laugh at what I do but I think Tae is probably happy. I must really love him and JK as well! Tae held this song back until they were in MS to give it its own space and a different treatment with the very creative video, quite a statement. I agree to your interpretation for both MV and lyrics. Indeed Tae is talking about self love in MV and about his love (JK) in lyrics. In my opinion Tae is more worried about his Jungkookie being on his own without Tae beside him. I'm sure irrespective of the challenges they will come up stronger and healthier in 2025.

Thank you for your interpretation of his MV. It was explained very well. V said he likes games/puzzles so he's a genius when it comes to his hidden clues in his videos. I noticed when he was single and in his bathroom brushing his teeth, that the towel hanging on the door is green. When he's in a relationship and in the bathroom with his girlfriend, the towel's color is purple and grey. When he's in the relationship the clues that I feel he gives are referenced to JK. Bananas in a basket, them cooking in the kitchen, eyebrow piercing and leather jacket and like I said the color changing of the bathroom towel. I feel V was very bold in 2023 with his songs showing us Taekook is real. I will always support them and wish them happiness. This is one of the most in depth analysis I have seen . I have caught a lot of TeaKook moments in the mv. When I watched the MV the first time, I wasn't sure if what I had seen was really what I thought it was. Then I watched it again to be sure. There were moments that brought TaeKook to mind. Whether or not Taehyung and Jungkook are actually a couple is only known to them and very close friends(members). They have been the anchors in each other's lives ,they steady each other,they keep each other grounded, and they are not afraid to show it,but just enough to how they feel about each other. I had been waiting for so long for your insight and analysis on this song as for me this is an absolute masterpiece but nothing less can be said when it comes to Taehyung's genius and unique brains. I had missed the sense of the short films in connection to his main MV but after your explanation it all got so sensibly clarified. Its true if I look at the MV only it can have several ways of looking at it but if seeing the MV with the lyrics of the song it gives me an absolute feel of Taekook. Like I looked at the MV more as Tae being alone will kill him, Tae with a female partner will also not be able to survive in the end but Tae with JK will be the only way he will be happy and survive as well. AS I said this can be interpreted in so many ways as per the perception of the viewer... hence an absolute masterpiece.

You've made a very good interpretation here - being 'fair' to general viewers, and to Taekookers. I see the video, after ALL the promo images, as being about Taekook at the end ....(in the alone scene in the cafe....He didn't HAVE to look so like JK - the similarities at that particular point were striking... so WHY?).... But some of those promo pictures also showed the brow piercing and lip ring on Taehyung.... Why on Earth did he have those done, unless he wanted to make the association? They weren't necessary if it was just for a love yourself message....and he would have known he was showing things that could be read that way, so he could have easily avoided looking like that, if he didn't want that to be considered by many. That last part too, was SO like so many K-Dramas.... someone wakes (usually female after getting drunk the night before) and sees the other (opposite sex) and worries if 'anything' happened.....Now look at what happened in the MV, when (presumably 'our') Tae woke and looked at the other....The other said "Yeah", whereupon 'our' Tae looks at the camera and smiles! We just didn't see if the second Tae wore the eyebrow ring. Love whoever you want to love, but first and foremost, learn to love yourself.....and by the way......

Wow. What a superb analysis of the MV. I have watched the video so many times but didn’t notice any of the things you pointed out. Thankyou. Taekook has had my heart from the very first video I saw of the two of them. There is no denying that what they share is super special. Theirs is a love that is impossible to ignore. There are many great details you noticed Bahare! Since this song was said to be a love song and a confession, the self-love theme, does not fit, in my opinion. In the trailer we see an apple, the forbidden fruit, desire, red thread of fate, etc, which very much point to forbidden love.The constant reference to JK and lgbtq in the mv, was made to be noticed. In which case, the ending scene and Tae's smirk, seemed to confirm it.

Accepting who you really are when you have to face the world against you is not easy. Taehyung is really artistic, genius and hopelessly romantic in conveying his message. That's true but in their circumstances it is much harder. Where they are from, being in the public eye and especially now with being in the military it would not be wise to open up about a relationship. A comment I read awhile back said that in the military a relationship with same gender is punishable by jail in their country. That makes me incredibly sad but for now it should stay quiet. 💜Taekook Forever💜

SAME. that's what I would do, too. But, we have the option and luxury to do that. Because we are regular people and not under the spotlight of the entire world. Both Tae and Jungkook have a lot at stake and a lot on the line. And, they're under contracts. However, I do believe in my heart of hearts, just from my own life experiences, that if u stand up & push back on things that may not be 100% acceptable or popular, or 'the norm,' ppl do come around. BigHit would support them. BTS would def support them. All it takes is the 1st person to stand up for them & others follow. My feeling is that Jungkook isn't as brave as Taehyung. Took my time watching this, and I agree, it is the closest analogy to my own former-literature-teacher expertise. The self-love message is important AND Tae relates to that and the end of friendship and wanting something more. Touching the hands of a hetero couple is meaningful and I agree, it is not so much about being bi as it is wanting to have the connection of a relationship and maybe missing or longing for that. It is also important to remember that two Irish/Scottish brothers wrote this and the theme is wanting more than a friendship with a person you have been friends with. Taekook's love for each other is deep--so pure, spiritual and ethereal, going beyond friendship. It is no doubt eternal too. 💟💜💟💜💟💜💟

I love the song and glad he released it late. The video shows his playful side. The Taehyung of old that wants to explore and create. I do hope that he finds happiness. His struggle with self love and depression are ever present. I do pray that he stays strong during his military service being away from not just his true soulmate JK but from the rest of his BTS friends. Thanks for a great analysis.

I felt like the beginning was upsetting for him because he wasn’t able to show his love publicly because they were “just friends” (and everything was so exaggerated to him like you said 😂). Then the second part for me had 2 meanings: the first was that when you love and are loved the world could fall apart around you and it would be ok as long as you had each other. The second was that you can be so obsessed that it makes you oblivious to life. And in the “End”….the last part…none of it matters if you don’t accept yourself and care for yourself.

Great interpretation. I feel sorry for him because I feel he wants Army to know the real Tae not V. What I think is maybe Tae not V is trying to tell Army he's lonely and would love to have someone in his life. Would Army accept/love him if he chose a girl or a guy? It sounds like he's afraid to be real but wants to be with Army. And he's saying whether he's straight or gay, he's still Tae either way. However, people have expectations of whom he should be with, whom he should love. He said V is a character so what we see is not really him. I think he's in love and would like that "special" person to be in his life and I think he's hoping whether he's with a girl or a guy, can Army be happy for him? Can Army drop expectations and really be happy for him? We all know there are Armys who may not accept him as gay and there are Armys who wont accept him as straight. As I said in the beginning I feel sorry for him. I know he loves Army from all walk of life very much and I would hope every Army would love him back no matter who he chose to love.

I believe that every song that V created is about his love(JK) V is so brave he doesn’t care what people will think. I want them to reveal themselves once they completed their military duties. V is so talented and very creative. He said that he didn’t write the lyrics but still he chose it because he knows that this lyrics is talking about him and his special someone. V’s love to JK is unconditional. I hope JK will love V as well. V knows that JK cannot function without him on his side. We know that they support each other so much. They are twin flames. One is water that needs fire and the other one is fire that needs water. So this MV fits both Taekook. Love yourself is the key to this MV.
