I'm not sure about any gdc talk but i know he went into decent detail at an exile con a few years ago. Alexander Sannikov. There's two talks that i found. Evolving path of exile renderer Rendering path of exile 2 I think he also had his own channel where he does a bunch of testing for his theories.
