Wow imagine me actually playing a Pokémon game instead of telling you what Magmar used to do in ZU
This is a cut of my casual playthrough of Pokémon Red that I streamed over on my Twitch a few months ago, it was nice to work on something a lil more lowkey over the holidays and overall I had a lot of fun both revisiting this game and putting this together!

@@johnmendez9525Unsure, couldn’t find anything like it on The Cutting Room Floor except an unused move effect in the final that induces sleep. Checking the development page, Poison Gas was the same since the earliest leaks we have, even when moves that were since scrapped like “500,000 volts”, “Bye-Bye Punch”, and “Mega Fire” still existed. Maybe it was said in an interview, or I’m not looking close enough. Worth noting that in the leak Koffing itself hadn’t been implemented, only Weezing, so it could’ve been a later planned move, lining up with the unused effect in the final. Either way, the TCRF page is a great read, highly recommend.

I've always been weirdly ok with the 1/256 miss glitch. It's like, pokemon can dodge. Ash is all the time saying "oh pikachu get outta the way of that or whatever". ANd its such a low chance that its more of a novelty than a problem

The animation thing for the Champion is kind of even more funny than just "it plays animations no matter what". Apparently it turns animations on no matter what, so if you lose you have to turn them off again, it is funnny as hell

Spoilers! This is a very unique playthrough, it's a series about one funny rat doing everything, which you might think makes the benched team boring, but it made them more endearing. The Boobs and Eepee stall in Sabrina and Cheese living up to his namesake at Lorelei was some of the hypest Gen 1 content I've ever seen. That's not even considering the funnies or Ronan's overwhelming power. By the end I was attached to everyone in some way, which is (to me) the ideal Pokemon experience, this was peak KZbin cinema.

The funny thing about the toxic/leech seed combo, is that not only do they stack (obviously,) but the damage-increasing effect of toxic actually works for *all* damage-over-time effects. Toxic is the only move that sets the variable for the increasing damage, but once it's set, then leech seed will also deal increased damage and increment the toxic counter when it procs, meaning that alakazam was taking two turns' worth of toxic each turn. Technically, burn can also do this, but it requires the victim to use rest to clear the poison.

The sequel series should be a run where you have to beat both Red and Blue, but the progress made is for the opposite game (Red Progress counts as Blue's, and vice versa), and badge counts are not shared.
