I got this toy as a little kid along with that one toy where you can scan barcodes to fight "monsters" or capture them. Growing up in a small no name town I always dreamed of being that special kid who would have their own adventure in a far off digital landscape. Megaman, digimon, heck Reboot even got me thinking. I wanted to be wisked away to be a strong warrior along side my partner. Only last week did I get my hands on my own Digimon Tamagotchi, my first one being when I was super tiny and letting it die. I take it everywhere with me and nobody bats an eye. I may be 30 but I still feel that spark of joy when I hear the little bloops and bleeps of my partner fighting along side me against his digital foes.

Only the Advanced PET got an English release, but there were also toy versions of the Plug-in PET, Progress PET, and Link PET EX. During my first trip in Japan they had arcade machines that were compatible with a Navi Chip that you get with the Link PET EX toy which gains experience whenever you use it with the arcade game and the PET. I had to dig up all of my PET toys when the Battle Network Legacy Collection was announced for 2023. Truly nostalgic.

When you demonstrated the flip end and the chip being in the way and just flying off I think that sort of feature would make for great dramatic scene like say someone who also has one is harassing you to fight you just stick the chip in and just flip the device open, the little plastic window goes flying and you just then say "Alright then let's go!"

You should check out the Progress PET! That one was my favorite PET toy. It has way more functions. Includes different Navis like ProtoMan inside instead of Mega, AND it’s backwards compatible with the Advanced PET Battle Chips! It has a exploration mode where you go through the net, and a tournament mode, and options for accessories. And iirc, it has internal memory so when you swap the batteries (AAA bats this time), you pick up where you left off! Full synchro, cross fusion, double souls, it’s the whole shebang! I genuinely think it would be right up your alley! Subscribing with the hopes of seeing a Progress PET review! 😄

Was going to do a Digivice review before I left for the Navy (long story). Funny thing about memory, the digivice actually does same progress, and many cartridges now use nonvolatile memory. They still require to be powered every now and then, but it's easier then replacing a battery. Anyway, these toys generally confuse me. They want kids to interact with others, but for many that interaction is only school. Well no school is going to let a kid bring these kind of devices because of just how distracting they are. Also, that thing is bloody loud. Like if I heard that, I would have assumed it's a bomb or something.

I loved watching NT Warrior on the KidsWB block when it was airing. When I saw the toy commercials, my little kid ass was of course enthralled. I saw the 3 versions of the PET in ToysR'Us and wanted the Black one as that came with 10 Battle Chips over the Megaman and Protoman's 3. Even though I didn't even know who Bass was at that point. (I swear they skipped his arc in the TV airing). Truth be told, I didn't realize it was Bass until this video. But yeah, I got it for Christmas that year, played it off and on for a couple years, and sucked so much that my brother and I could only beat 1 virus in our entire time with the toy.

Oh my God! I have one of those!!! Mine is the Proto Man one! Such an iconic toy design, for a very poorly made game! Honestly, thank you for making this vídeo, It unlock a nostalgia boost I didn't even knew I needed it

When I was younger my brother and I had around 20 of those Digimon battle things each. They were actually being sold at the dollar store and my mom only purchased them all because she previously purchased us 1 each for $10 or so. So she knew it was a good deal. Now they around $50 each lol

First video I’ve seen from you but I see a fellow fan of black and purple as a color combination so I’m now going to keep watching.

I had never seen anything like pet advanced until this video! It's was so awesome seeing the technology it used and I thought using the marble to track steps was really impressive! I don't usually watch videos like this but I really loved and would love to see more like it!

I gifted my English version with not only the base chips but a couple of the extra ones that came with little figures to a friend for their Lan cosplay. I don't know that cosplay even ever happened, and I miss it.

I bought a Korean Progress PET off Ebay for $37 a few years ago and it's really neat. It was brand new, had it's original packaging, came with 6 battle chips, an accessory handle that makes it easier to hold and gives Megaman more HP. It has mostly the same the functions as the Advanced PET, except you don't need to shake it to encounter viruses. Instead, you get to explore a cyber world in the PET and encounter viruses randomly just like in the game. Unfortunately just like the Advanced PET, it will reset all it's memory once you change out the batteries. So make sure you have very long lasting batteries in the thing if you want to keep your progress. Very cool version of the PET overall and highly recommend it if you can get it a good price.

When I was a kid you could buy the first two gens, action figures with chips, accessories, and additional chips in target but still could never get my hands on one

I had scaners and that was pretty fun. Barcode scanning games were pretty fun.since at home or going shopping you can just scan away. Am kind of thinking of getting the umm Hero bracelet and the my hero dim card because rising a tiny bakugo just sounds fun to do.

Had a scannerz back then as well. I think the comic that came with it had a barcode that healed your monsters. And that eventually faded and didn’t work anymore so I had to stop playing with it lol. Had a green one if I recall think each color had their own tribe of monsters.

@@CEDL0W ya their was like 3 and it was like macha clan, monsters and umm another one. I still have a card with one of the monsters plus I think I also had the green one.

this thing is adorable, i never had any of these kinds of things bc i didn't know about mega man outside of marvel vs Capcom till i was older and my parents were always really dumb about Japanese little creature things like pokemon and digimon but i think it would've been really fun to play with if i had one when i was younger

I love this game so much too. I grew up playing legends, X, and the first others. When you show the PET, I thought of Sigma and Purple Bass. Oh and as for when you say you was into the rpg's of Mega Man. I would suggest playing Mega Man Legends 1&2, and Misadventures of Tron Bonne. They are also some of the rpg, semi open world games. You level up weapons and gear, do missions, gather special items, and have some great bosses and other characters too. The stories are also really great too.

Bruh, what a coincidence! I'm just getting back into my nostalgia of Megaman BN, currently replaying the first game on my DS Lite! Idk if you know this or plan to cover it, but BN 6 has a competitive community, to the point that they made an emulator for the Battle Network games that has online rollback netcode for the best multiplayer support, they also have tournaments all the time :D

I had a digimon digitector as a child. Super similar. I did however purchase one of these sealed last year and I’m so tempted to play with it all the time
