At least now that we know that as long as if you defeat one pokemon on either side it counts as the winner of the match & the pokemon used by both sides for next episode's battle of Liko & Katy VS Rika as: {Floragato & Lokix VS Clodsire & Dugtrio} that beating Rika's Ace Clodsire would indeed be something if Liko could beat it, but if not beating Dugtrio on the other hand might be possible (to be honest, I would've thought Rika would have chosen to fight with her Closire be either Donphan [to make up for Clodsire's slow mobility]) or Camerupt [being part Fire would Really Challenge both Liko & Katy]

@@MarcusMapua Actually, the rule was that the battle will go on until either the Elite Four member loses one Pokémon or the student loses theirs. The students are the stars of these battles, so even if a Gym Leader loses a Pokémon, the battle will continue until either the student or the Elite Four member is out.

Tbh, despite how bulky Copperajah looks, it has really low Def and SpDef for a final evo. It's entire bulk mainly came from it's HP. And Baxcalibur is literally a pseudo with the highest Attack stat and busted ability. Roy and Brassius had no business being here.
@Pokeferlax
@Pokeferlax 6 күн бұрын
That's really interesting that Copperajah has really low defenses! I don't look into stats in-game too much, so I assumed it was a pretty tanky Pokemon 🐘
@MarcusMapua

And Copperajah was the main one of Poppy's pokemon that kept taking most damage from Dot & Iono, so it makes sense why he got knocked out. And all Roy & Brassius ended up doing most of the battle was just unfortunately powering up Baxcalibur with the "beauty of their attacks" which resulted in Baaxcalibur Glaive Rushing them to a Double KO

Some interesting details: Tinkaton was able to break through Reflect because it used Brick Break. The first time that move has shown its secondary effect in the anime. Baxcalibur has the Ability Thermal Exchange, which caused Fuecoco's attacks to power it up. The attack Bellibolt used was Zap Cannon.
@MarcusMapua
@MarcusMapua 6 күн бұрын
I did think it was interesting how they decided to show Brick Break being used animated-wise to how the game portrays it; I figured they would've made it look like how Cubone used Brick Break in XY as both Cubone & Tinkaton are weaponry-gear users
@miikaroos3809
@miikaroos3809 5 күн бұрын
Another interesting detail: The rules for these battles actually stated that the battle will end only if the Elite Four member loses one Pokémon or the student's Pokémon loses. If the Gym Leader loses a Pokémon, the battle will still continue, because the students are the stars of these battles. In fact, I have a feeling that this is exactly what will happen in the next episode. I bet Katy's Lokix will go down first, and then Floragato will have to battle two Pokémon by herself. The preview certainly focused on Floragato a lot.

To be fair I think the Elite Four were always displayed as a little overpowered in the anime. Like right before Ash battle Volkner, he lost a 3 v 1 against Flint's Infernape. Yet we're supposed to believe Ash would be ready to battle the Elite Four and the Champion if he won the Sinnoh League. Then again the writers might have purposely made them too strong because Ash was never meant to beat any of them. It took until XY for an Elite Four member to be defeated, and Alain was at a disadvantage when he won. In Journeys Ash finally defeated an Elite Four member, but after he already defeated a Champion Trainer with Iris, so we never really know when his Journey Pokémon became Elite Four level. I think they are nerfing the anime Elite Four strength, to make it more believable that a beginner Trainer can actually become a Champion level Trainer at a relative rate.
@miikaroos3809
@miikaroos3809 5 күн бұрын
Yeah, for whatever reason, the Elite Four have always seemed either too strong or too weak in the anime. They were basically gods in the first four Gens. To make things worse, Ash's battle against Drasna was a total mess. I'm not saying he shouldn't have won, but pretty much everything about that battle was poorly written and made no sense.

The fact that is was Iono who did the most damage is what makes it work better. Larry pretty much shows that you being a Gym Leader doesn't automatically make you weaker than an Elite 4 member since he gets to be both. Copperajah took hits from Spark, Liquidation and the super powered Zap Cannon, so it was damaged before hand. I'd have liked for them give each battle its own episode, but given how it played out its fine. Also helps that Poppy was the only one to lose thus far.

I do understand why Dot and Iono's battle with Poppy is considered to be a disappointment because how easily both defeated her Copperajah. When watching the battle, we see Iono uses reflects to mitigate the power of Copperajah and Tinkaton's attacks. We also see Poppy's idea of using sandstorm and brick break to lower their defense. I also want to point out Dot's idea of using Terrastalization as a decoy to have Iono some time to confuse Copperajah to get the winning blow. The only thing I say in regards to the claim that defeating one of the Elite Four's Pokemon so easily made them seem "weak", is in the games, they aren't exactly a strong Elite Four, (or Champion). So, while I definitely agree that none of their Pokemon should have been one-shot, having a Gym Leader fighting alongside a Trainer and managing to defeat them, doesn't seem that surprising, nor out of the spectrum of possibility.

Glad Dot managed to win and redeem herself after her last loss but poor Roy man. He just broke his losing streak and suddenly it starts up again Yeah it's to an elite 4 level trainer but it's not like he was battling said trainer alone. He had a gym leader helping him That just leaves Liko to beat her opponent and get some redemption. I mean... this is not actually Elite Four battle in Pokemon League tho. Just like the gym battle is just a test. Clavell said these battle is also an entertainment for the student, to see/meet the Elite Four, their pokemons & how they battle. If the Elite Four actually use their full power, just 1 hit KO every student's pokemons and win. I really like how this episode show us so much character, we almost meet every gym leaders & elite four in the same place and this is not the League, just school program. Iirc in the past seasons seeing all the elite four have to be in the end of series, and it is rarely to see the gym leader in the same place. Imagine casually meet almost all of the strongest trainers in the region not as a trainer who have gym badge yet.

In other words , they plot armored Dots battle. thats not just a journeys Vibe, that was most of the whole series itself. and to be fair at least Dot didn't Commit the finishing blow. Probably a bit of an unpopular opinion going off your reaction to this episode. But overall thought it was a pretty nice one, think the battle was well animated, I liked the strategy’s used. Only problem was Dot and the the streamer gym leader winning, granted the strategy to distract while powering up a big blast was cool, but I feel like it should not have one shot especially when electric isn’t super effective against steel and when it’s an elite four Pokemon. Apart from that I don’t think it’s any where bad as some might say it is, definitely didn’t ruin them so far.

I enjoyed most of Dot/Iono VS Poppy, but sadly I just don't think the ending was great. OHKO'ing an Elite Four Pokemon feels weird to me, it kinda feels like it undermines the power they should have. I was going to say the same thing because while I didn’t like how it concluded regarding Liko and Iono’s battle against Poppy (Considering how Copperajah was one-shotted felt a bit underwhelming which makes me feel sad since I love that Pokemon), I am not the biggest fan of one-shots in Pokemon and its not even remotely badly as some people would say considering it really didn’t feel *ruined* the elite four for me personally but moreso undermined and downplayed. I didn’t mind Iono because I love her to death but felt like Dot should have her fair share of the battle, at least balance it out of who does support or offense but issues aside, I loved it!!! 🥲

In Dot's battle, I thought it wasn't that bad & it made sense how the battle played out: most of Dot's team took damage from only Sandstorm, Rock Smash, Brick Break, & Rock Slide (1st half of those moves do deal too much damage) & with Bellibolt kind of a tank, it made sense it was able to tough through & use Quaxly-charged Zap Cannon to Copperajah, Who Was the main one of Poppy's pokemon that kept taking all the damage (albeit overall it was mainly Iono's win than Dot's). For Roy's battle, it really was one-sided as most of it ended up with him powering up Baxcalibur to Glaive Rush a Double KO. - As for Sango's, it was declared that she Lost her battle as the rule was the 1st pokemon knocked out either side loses, and Glalie knocked itself out First with Self-Destruct to knock out everyone else. - Onyx I sorta get why he lost: Onyx is a Soldier-Warrior. He wasn't going to sacrifice/let Tulip (his tag partner/backup~subordinate) be defeated so he & Garganacl took the hit for her which made them lose. If Onyx hadn't, he'd feel like it'd be disgraceful to him. He really is a Soldier with a Warrior's Honor & Pride. He might be my favorite Explorer > At least now that we know that as long as if you defeat one pokemon on either side it counts as the winner of the match & the pokemon used by both sides for next episode's battle of Liko & Katy VS Rika as: {Floragato & Lokix VS Clodsire & Dugtrio} that beating Rika's Ace Clodsire would indeed be something if Liko could beat it, but if not beating Dugtrio on the other hand might be possible (to be honest, I would've thought Rika would have chosen to fight with her Closire be either Donphan [to make up for Clodsire's slow mobility]) or Camerupt [being part Fire would Really Challenge both Liko & Katy]

2:32 for the record JN's wasn't the only series to do that. it happened way earlier in hoenn and the battle frontier sagas which I know some people happen to like, once Ash got to Flannery, most of his important battles had the factor of Ash's pokemon taking so many hits yet winning with one good counter strike, kind of pace breaking the battle by doing so, the battle frontier was just as bad about that, I mean look at Ash's fight with Tucker, he clearly had Ash's number with his fire water combination tactics, yet somehow Swellow and Corphish were able to win with one good hit each, and before that his fight with Greta, alot of people think Ash's Snorlax had unlimited health due to how much damage it took. The only battle in JN's to me that truly gave me a similar feeling was Ash vs Drasna, because I won't deny that yes Sirfetch'd and Dracovish took abit much damage wise, but I was willing to overlook it in Sirfetch'd's case when it took down her mega altaria because she and her altaria were being way to smug and she deserved that loss. That said, It's clear the elite 4 are holding back, otherwise why wouldn't they use terra as well? I'm sure that if poppy had, she would've won no problem.

I bet that Floragato will both learn a new move and have to battle both Clodsire and Dugtrio by herself next week. The rules stated that the battle is not over if the Gym Leader loses a Pokémon, so I'm absolutely positive that Lokix will go down first. The preview focused mostly on Floragato, and even the episode's name is Rika vs Liko! Katy won't play a big role at all, this is Liko's time to shine.

Quaxly proccing Bellibolt's Electromorphosis is some peak doubles strats! :D If only it was a ground attack and Bellibolt had a Weakness Policy~ And yeah, Copperajah has realllllly high HP, but baaaaaad defenses in terms of game mechanics. Conversely, Baxcalibur is a tank unless you have a supereffective move, and its default ability, Thermal Exchange, actually gives it a power boost and blocks burns from fire attacks! I see where you're coming from, though! In that respect, Dot x Iono's battle seemed more reminiscent of playing the game and stomping the E4 (They were uhhhh... *not really challenging* to be blunt?) whereas Roy x Brassius' follows some more narrative realism.

I think it was a great ep showing off abilities from iono/hassel and teamwork only think that could of make it better is dot using fighting moves because fighting is SE against steel and Roy after seeing fire doesn’t work because of it’s ability he should’ve just used stomping tantrum and disarming voice rest of the battle. The next ep won’t just be liko battle we have dot and penny moments and most likely grusha/Anne battle, it was a great way to show off the GL/E4 because this is most likely the only time we are going to see grusha battle and show up in this arc at all if my count is right that we only have 5 more ep before we leave. The second half of the E4 matches then the terapagos ep after it then the last 3 test for the kids dot vs kofu, liko vs tulip and Roy vs ryme. After that we should be leaving to get back to the main plot the treasure hunt.

As for Roy, Unfortunately most of the battle was resulted in powering up Baxcalibur with the "beauty-artistry of their attacks" to lead to Baxcalibur Glaive Rushing a Double KO. @@eljordinio7647 That's the thing though, I believe it's counted as an intentional knock out. Because it's no surprise what happens to your Pokemon when you tell it to explode, in calling out the move you are effectively fainting your own Pokemon. So with the rules set, whomever loses a Pokemon first loses for their team and because Self Destruct, a move that literally always knocks out your Pokemon was used, they count that as a knock out because the trainer chose to use it knowing full well their Pokemon was going down. Regardless of who faints first in the match up, the trainer choosing to use the move will automatically be considered as the one who fainted first. They made the move so they consider it fainted once the move succeeds.

Dots wasn't begginer trainer & gym leader could challenge champion but also poppy is a child still unlike other roy is still newbie & felt teaching roy idea combo & felt he lose shown character talent differ like dots & liko might talent in battle see two explorer bulking man lost outright but but bratty one got opponent chill but shown both experience believability moments she had one them tie shown power skilling but shown dots felt wasn't victory point

I disagree - I think there’s such a big cast of characters and the nature of paldea is more toward education than competition - it’s way more fitting that we meet the elite four early, that they also play a collaborative part in the students’ education. My biggest complaint is more that the show ignores perfectly good type match ups; quaxly could have used low sweep, fuecoco could have used stomping tantrum etc. Also y’all Roy is FINE. He was hyped after the battle! He’s using it as a chance to learn and he had fun, that’s what the show is telling us that matters, not just winning

@miikaroos3809 5 күн бұрын
To be fair, Quaxly was focusing on Tinkaton. Fighting-type attacks are not super-effective against it. Also, Fuecoco did use a super-effective move against the Dragons, Disarming Voice. Stomping Tantrum would have been his weakest move against Baxcalibur and Flapple.

@@hunterhq295 I mean yeah you're not wrong, you do face her afterwards but still she's like 6 so if they had to have one lose, it would be Poppy. Also the others have more experience just because of the fact that they aren't in like 1st grade.

In my head there are 3 reasons why Dot win so 'easily'. 1 Its not just dot vs poppy, Iono and bellibolt are that strong, and it did the final blow with a boosted zap cannon 2. Poppy probably wasn't giving her best... It's just friendly battles vs students, I assume the E4 are holding back for educational purposes 3. (meta) We didn't have that much time in this episode for a longer battle. I enjoyed both battles and sandwich explosion gag was funny.

But seriously, this is just a test battle, the other elite fours are clearly shown superior and Dot and Iono only focused one Pokemon. Copperajah is a really bad pokemon and got jumped by two super-effective Tera boosted in which Dot got carried hard, Tinkaton didn't even bat an eye

What? Nothing that landed on Copperajah in that battle was super-effective.

I feel like this episode would have worked a lot better if the elite four were only allowed to use one pokemon, and the battle was a 2v1. Then they could have had the elite four member slowly pushing back the gym leader's pokemon, then the student being the thing that pushes the gym leader over the edge and making it an even fight. Making it a 2v2 just really undermined the power of the elite four, because making this one a close battle implies that either the gym leader is stronger than the e4 member, or that the student is on par with an e4 pokemon, neither of which should be the case. A 2v1 would have allowed for creative teamwork strategies to overcome a clear power deficit, which is what I think the episode meant to portray.

Poppy in pokemon master ex:arrive on the insland,proced to win a competion where you need to defeated your opponent in the fastest time possible,beat both the protagonist(that beated the main story tournament against trainer likes red)and a 8 gym leader at the same time with just one pokemon,reveal she is an elyte 4,dips. Poppy in horizon:get defeated by a beginer that probably wont even go for the trainer route and a 3 gym leader.
