Can’t wait for next week 😊 Period confessions: - I know a few girlies who do full service sex work, and when they’re on their period they’ll use clean beauty blenders (makeup sponges) to put up their meowmeow instead of a tampon. (Not advising to do this as I don’t know if it’s safe or not, just heard lots about it.) 🤷‍♀️ Speaking of periods, you guys should look up Lauren Wasser. She’s a model and activist who lost both her legs to toxic shock syndrome from a tampon. Her story is brutal and her triumph through it is beautiful. Questions: - Grace, I so deeply loved your Needles & Pins series, exploring tattoo and body modification in different cultures around the world. I’m curious if there’s any other areas around the world you would continue the series in? I know Africa has deep connections with scarification and skin stretching etc. and I would love to learn more about it! A lot of documentaries on these things can feel very matter of fact, but your series on it felt so warm and energetically respectful towards the people you were interacting with, which made me adore it so much. I hope there is more for the future! If not, so much gratitude for what you gave us through Needles & Pins. I re-watch it at least once a year and it evokes such a warm tingly excited energy in me. - Grace, you’ve mentioned being adhd before and having hyper fixations. I myself am an autistic/adhd girlie and find hearing about others’ hyper fixations so fascinating. Would you mind sharing what your current hyper fixations are? (Eg. Food, a tv series, a new artistic craft, etc.) and Jen if you can relate as well, I’d love to hear yours too! - Jen, how do you find the bravery to be a comedian? I’ve had crippling social anxiety my whole life, and standing on a stage and telling jokes to a crowd would be my personal form of hell. I have so much admiration for your ability to do it. How do you talk yourself through stage fright and find that courage? - Jen & Grace, as females we all understand the deep misogyny I would assume all women experience. What would you suggest any male ally’s watching this can do to better support the women in their life? - Grace, as a cannabis enthusiast, have you ever been to BC Canada and had some “BC Bud”? I myself am sober but before achieving sobriety I was a massive cannabis user and the bud here is stronggg. 💪 Are you a Sativa, Indica, or hybrid gal? I suspect I’m the odd woman out, but I prefer to “free bleed” lol… I do wear some reusable hand made pads I bought off Etsy but occasionally when they are all in the wash I’ll just fold up a wash cloth 🤫 I’ve come to hate tampons, though they didn’t bother me in my younger years. Absolutely crazy about your podcast, I especially appreciate the transparency talking about periods & making it not so taboo ❣️ adore you gorgeous ladies!
