About The Polar Express:
Late on Christmas Eve, after the town has gone to sleep, a boy boards the mysterious train that waits for him--The Polar Express. When the boy arrives at the North Pole, Santa Claus offers him any gift he desires. The boy asks only for a bell from the harness of Santa's reindeer. But on the way home, the bell is lost. Christmas morning, the boy finds the bell under the Christmas tree, and when he shakes it, the bell makes the most beautiful sound he's ever heard. His mother admires the bell, but she laments that it is broken ... for, you see, only a true believer can hear the sound of the bell.

Unbelievable! When I first saw this movie in theaters nearly 2 decades ago, I had no idea what a technical innovation I was seeing on the big screen. And the fact that Tom played more than one character is absolutely insane! The Polar Express is no Toy Story. But the themes of holding onto the spirit of Christmas and inner youth make it worth revisiting once in a while!

The polar express happens to be one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time. If someone could please do me a favor and get a message to Tom Hanks. Please tell him that I said that he did an outstanding job. Playing all these characters. This movie happens to be my nieces favorite movie of all time as well. I gave it to her for her birthday when she was three years old. She was so stoked. In fact she was very excited and she said. The polar express three! That’s how excited she was.

The problem is when it's on regular cable, they shrink/cut/mute the closing credits, so they lose the Josh Groban song, "Believe", which was the theme playing through the whole movie! Infuriating, at least...

I watched it in theaters when it came out with my little brother, I was like 15 but it was fun to watch with my family. I liked watching my brother being in awe of the north pole and the train itself. I just showed this movie to my son this year (2023), he's 3, and watching him get into the movie and enjoy it made me so happy. I got to relive for a second time a child watching in awe and wonder. Since I showed him the movie, we watched it at least 6 more times and I think more as the season gets closer to Christmas. I hate how underrated this film was. This film is a classic in our family.

With this mo-cap technique, the real-life actor becomes the armature for the CG character, so, one actor CAN play several roles, up to ALL of the roles. Now, THAT is an interesting idea... "Hamlet", with ONE physical actor (just change the voice actors... or NOT).... OK, Tom and Bob, there's your challenge.
