They really were at their peak here. So tight as a band. Copeland is just awesome.

I was at this fucking show!!!!! The greatest show they ever did. The cocaine hadn't started fracturing the band yet. The crowd was electric. Stewart was beyond amazing. Andy was keeping the chordal craziness down and well... Sting... fuck, the dude was on fire.

good god...i was born when this was...83. yet, im only now discovering the police. i write music...it's my entire life. yet, i never really gave this band the chance they deserved. i feel so inspired right now. had no idea how utterly creative and transcendent they were. this is so utterly beyond anything else out in 83...

Yes, one of the BEST groups EVER - the combo of the guys, each with their unique talent, can never be duplicated. And Sting's amazing songwriting ability continues to this day - can't stop talent.

I'd love to see this whole show and see what else was different from the standard Synchronicity set list. That whole tour was nearly exactly the same but they did what may be the best versions of Roxanne at the New Zealand and Australia shows in March of '84. This is the only time I've heard him sing "Jamaica Farewell" and it's great.

What a great new find from over 25 years ago! On this night in Oakland 1983 the opening bands were The Fixx, Madness, Oingo Boingo, and the Thompson Twins, This appears to be taken from the in-house video feed. The Police on their final 80's tour.

Copeland is simply the best. How often is the percussionist the best musician in the group? And, I've always loved Andy's spare takes on guitar parts, just letting a chord hang out there.

One of the biggest musical disappointments of my life was realizing that Sting was a big fake. For a guy who has since claimed never to really like rock music he sure faked it real well when it served his purposes. He basically just used the Police to build his name professionally, and then dumped Stewart and Andy like so much garbage. His music has since (d)evolved to complete unlistenable shmaltz. His dictator thumbprint was all over many of the song arrangements on the reunion tour. Shame.

Yeah, amazing performance - until Sting makes that stupid joke about these girls AND Stewart being his sisters. Ruins the atmosphere for a moment, don't you think. The end makes up for it again, though.
