A drummer in a well known Canadian band said the Police performance in Winnipeg on their same tour was the best performance he'd seen in his life.

I love that Sting said they chose XTC for an opener because the name was shorter than Renaissance, or Quintessence.

Interesting to see some of what Stewart was filming here, appearing 26 years later in his movie Everyone Stares

The good part of this video starts at 4:42 when we see Stewart. (Sting at first denying he had a wife and son - ugh. And mimicking admonishing parents as if he were an adolescent - must’ve been in his late 20s at that time...)

It’s fairly obvious that this part of the tour was running on coke. All of their interactions are that of someone on stimulants. The “I think I’m funnier than I actually am”. The “blatant sexual energy and flirtation that is oddly empty of any real feeling or lust, just sort of automatic and detached”. The tempos, everything is being played so fast! But it may have helped them because there is a definite vitality and drive going on. I think they are just realizing they are going to be rich beyond their wildest dreams (Stings glasses) and are enjoying their new rock star status, kind of trying it on since it’s been given to them. It’s nice to see them enjoying it as we all know that was a rather short lived era.

You know in all these interviews i feel like Stewart is a bit disconnected from the other two. It seems to me that Sting and Andy have a better relationship. Stewie is always moving around, playing with his camera. Any thoughts?

I think Stewart has to be moving at all times. He’s still like that.

Stewart is always high energy, can’t keep still, always moving. Probably part of what made him a great drummer too

So if you live in Regina you tell someone that's not familiar with the town that it's pronounced like a female body part. (in America we'd likely pronounce the "i" as a long "e" sound, instead of a long "i"). Sorry, couldn't resist the Seinfeld humor.
