Aeyyyyyyyyyy someone actually said it lol. Also braking drags the straps the opposite way the tire is moving allowing it to grip the rubber and lodge it into the spinning axle/hub assembly. I was hoping someone would tell him he needs to brake once it touches the tire.

The design was updated to distatch the arm from the police cruiser. Yes, it’s unsafe for the runner as they might flip, but they’re endangering everyone else on the road, so it’s justified in the eyes of the law. Better you than a family and kids.

From what I've been seeing, the latest design that I could find still provided connection between the runner and the cruiser from the tether upon wrapping the tyre, allowing the cruiser to slow the car down while retaining the runner's stability and not spinning out, as the rear end of the runner is being dragged towards the cruiser. The tether length provides enough distance from the pursuer and the runner so that when slowing down, the cruiser isn't close enough to be affected significantly by the sudden movements of the car fleeing. The cruiser does appear to come with an emergency switch to release the tether, in the event that it is unsafe to stay tethered onto the car. If you'd like to disclose anything that might marks this comment obsolete, have at it.

I want to see this active in my area. NATURALLY, the catch should wrap around the tire/axle and stay connected to the police unit, thus allowing the cop to just use his brakes to stop the vehicle he's chasing. He would hit a switch, the main part would disconnect and be pulled out with a tether, that way the cop can slam on the brakes and call it a day. BUT the way JBeam works here, that's about the option we're able to have, BUT it does work for the most part

I just realize there might be a problem with the wheel grabber, particularly if 1) the car your suspect is driving is front wheel drive, which is useless because you’re basically grabbing onto a “dead” wheel with no power going through it, which won’t stop the suspect, and 2) it probably won’t work on really big tires, so if your suspect has a car that has both, you’re basically out of luck.

As is the PIT maneuver. Same concept of stopping a speeding and elusive vehicle putting others in danger. I keep seeing this comment and its annoying because it's untrue and not very factual. Yeah locking the rear tire is dangerous at highway speeds but who the fuck said this was specifically designed to be used on a highway? They were probably just showing off how effective it is, even at high rates of speed. Also, just like the PIT maneuver, this would be used by trained officers who know when and where to use it. Not every cop is a handlebar mustache havin' douche straight out of Miami Vice. ~90% of cops are well-trained professionals who don't want to injure the innocent bystanders nearby or themselves. Lastly, this is highly effective in lowering costs from vehicle damage to the cruisers. At high speeds the PIT maneuver can be and is moderately damaging to the cruisers, even in some cases rendering the vehicle useless and possibly ending with the suspect evading. I guarantee if i look more into it other than the 5 minutes it took me to find this shit i'll find a lot more uses for this device.

Well shit, 2 seconds later and i found another. Larger vehicles like trucks and large suv's are a lot harder to PIT, especially if the officer is in a sedan or a compact. This device would make it a lot easier and safer to stop the vehicle than both the PIT maneuver and spikes. (Also spike strips have a similar concept to this. Punctures the tires to deflate them and slow the vehicle down. In most cases though, the punctured tire at high rates of speed can dislodge the tire from the rim and lodge it in the spinning axle or hub of the tire/wheel assembly essentially locking the wheel(s). People will literally argue anything even if it doesn't make any sense. #WelcomeToTheYTCommentsSection #CancerousComments
